Art books give as much as anything else, in fact the publisher eats a lot of the profits, and nothing goes to the studio and the remaining profits go to the artist.
Just admit you can't afford it, or don't want to pay at al.

This is devastating. This was my go to site for all my DDL needs and no other site came even close for all those years I'm on here.
Thank you for everything you've done and your contribution to the scene.
I actually pay just for a VPS (a server) I use a seedbox. I am not against the concept of paying money to get my anime, I just don't want to give one cent to Crunchyroll ever. Besides, buying something like an official artbook probably gives the studio more money than me watching it via some Californian company that hates anime.
i guess you mean will subs of source A will work on video of source B, so yes utill it's the exact same episode, because dialogues have same timestamps
he's a grown man with responsibilities, and keeping a site like this would take atleast 5hrs of my day (im a slow person), also just having a site like this is a very big risk and not normal thing
Thank you brother for everything to your success what ever you choose to be and become π hope your well and all your family is well tooππ Hope everyone's well tooπ Quick question will the subs work on any episode for the right episode if that makes sense?
I have just one question I am feeling deeply depressed while hearing this service going down, my one question to the admin why do you want to shut it down a whole story, just because I feel deeply attached and emotional to it, can you just give me answer for one last time?
I've discovered this site not that long ago, and setting up RSS feeds for torrents is much simpler and more convenient than over at nyaa, so I used AT for the previous season, and also set up everything for this season too. I might be new here, but I'm still going to miss this place, so thanks for everything.
because the technical debt in the code would make it less fun to run AT
If you're saying that's a key reason, I wouldn't call that an accurate assessment. It's not like I'm incapable of changing code that I find problematic. I suspect that your evaluation of "technical debt" differs from mine, which is hardly surprising, given the massive difference in familiarity with it. (note, I'm not saying your evaluation is "wrong", rather that everyone other than myself would have a different perspective to me)

I think doxxing yourself to test out if stuff of you is public online is the just the right thing to do?

@Admin
Thank you for the reply~<3
In my last post I meant to express that I feel you for closing down AT, because the technical debt in the code would make it less fun to run AT. Apart from the financial and operational burden.
Stay well and have fun with your new next projects~<3
I feel that you might be trivialising it a bit too much (then again, I do that a bit as well). It might seem 'easy', but there's a degree of discipline that you need to maintain. And it's easy to slip up.
I suspect half of those "anonymous bullet-proof" hosts are just scams, and those that aren't are typically flaky at best. Those that have some reputation may decide to charge a fortune, given the niche they're in. Although it's not particularly that hard to figure out the right host, I'd hardly call it a straightforward matter either.
I guess you will have to look for a VPN: https://www.youtube.com/@techlore/search?query=vpn And hook qBittorrent to VPN by going to Options > Advanced > Network Interface > VPN Service you bought. So you can safely use torrents, unless your Internet Provider hates VPNs too.
Administrator, thank you for all your hard work running Anime Tosho. Since I canβt use torrents and can only watch anime via DDL, the loss of Anime Tosho is a real blow to me. I hope a good alternative or successor DDL site will emerge.
Staying anon is orders of magnitude easier than the boring stuff of running a site.
You could basically just pay some anon-friendly hosting provider in some random DMCA-resistant country in Monero, log in via a privacy focused VPN, and that's all entirely solved. Money aside anybody can do this much.
He already replied to something like this, seems he doesn't want someone else to just bastardize his dear project, and instead wishes someone else would make their own thing (possibly with the help of his own code) instead of just relying on some random anon half-assedly running the site. I imagine he wants to fuck off into the wilderness and never hear about hosting a site ever again, which I can understand.
Sad to see that this site is going. It was a fantastic way to easily search for torrents of anime subs as I still use that method to download files so I don't need to resort to streaming.
Anyone know of alternative torrent sites for anime these days? Shana project is pretty bad now & Nyaa is really hard to search.
This is devastating the site was the most reliable and constant way to find dubbed anime losing this site has generally got me depressed, but thank you for all you've done over the past years in running the site enable me to find many good anime's. I have no right to be asking this since I lack the knowledge nor the funds to run a site like this, but are you unwilling to hand it off to somebody if they are willing and able.
This site's been such an amazing resource. Every time I wanted an anime torrent over the years I came here for it. I think it's wild you never asked us for money or even made this announcement seem like "if you all give me money I'll continue".
It's honestly super sad to see this happen, especially as sites like this feel like some last bastions of a bygone era where the internet felt really alive, partially because of this fossilized PHP web design reminiscent of places like AniDB and sadpanda.
I just want you to know this wasn't 15 years down the drain. The contribution you gave the world was massive, if you consider how many people you made a little happier. It's only sad that you won't get the recognition you deserve, and 10 years from now this place will only have been a nice distant memory. I could see you visiting my country and I wouldn't know I owe you a beer. Hell, I don't even know anything about you. But you made me happy and I want you to know that.
I just saw the shutdown announcement. I wanted to thank you for all the efforts and hardwork you put into AT. Me and my cousin (died 2021) is/was a regular visitor of your site since early 2013. I am just happy to remember my bro enjoying your site as much as I did before he passed away.

i am talking about public ip π btw from NAT i rembered anyone reading this please disable NAT-PMP and UPnP these are literally shit i cant explain everything but just disable them
https://digitalcarnage.info/ has also been mirroring, I believe, usually way faster than animetosho. i've noticed they've been picking the main release groups like subsplease after 4-6 mins of the torrent releasing..
I just wanna know, if the site's gonna close, will the DDL links be available for downloading, until they eventually go kaput? I'm in a location that I cannot DL torrents right now.
Your site has been truly amazing, it will be something that will be truly missed. You could tell that you really where invested in this project from the themes and constant updates. I wish you the best of luck in future endeavors.
I don't think I'm the model of good opsec, but don't dox yourself I guess. Keep separate online "identities" and don't let them cross over. Making payments can be painful as a lot of hosts have some degree of KYC. If you're receiving income/donations, that's potentially more problematic, but I avoid doing that.
There's also AI potentially being used to de-anonymise people, to that I have no clue what to do - maybe run all your posts through some AI that changes your writing style perhaps? Sounds painful.
But another tactic is just not to attract attention. People won't bother trying to dig up info on you if they have little reason to do so.

I'm sorry to see AT closing down, but I understand how much work and time it takes you. Still, I wanted to thank you for all your hard work over the years. AT has been a great tool for archiving animes. Thank you so much for everything, ouen shiteru yo
