I've been wondering for quite some time now, maybe you are willing to answer them: 1) How many servers are you using? 2) How big are their pipes? 3) How much traffic does this site produce? (I would love to see some statistics <3) 4) Would it be easy to add additional servers?
It seems like the Nyaa mods actually prefer it to be submitted to the English section but won't enforce it. Their switch is rather weird, as some are posted to English translated, whilst others aren't. The ones that remain in English translated also have non-English subtitle tracks (at least the ones I checked).
I don't really like changing the fetch rules as it complicates the processing pipeline/rules a bit, but I've made the changes now, so new files from Erai should be fetched. See how that goes.
Long live Anime Tosho! Thank you guys so much for this website! (Been using it for a while so I thought it'd be nice to show gratitude.) I live in a country where companies like Netflix and even Crunchyroll don't give a damn about quality when it comes to anime, so it's awesome there are amazing websites like this one. I appreciate a lot!
I agree. Why complain? Watch what you want. I prefer having both. Sometimes I get tired of reading subs so having options is nice.
Think about if every type video (movies, tv, etc.) you ever watched wasn't in your native language or even subbed were rare like some of the 3rd world countries. It would suck. Hell being the U.S. releases most of the biggest movies in the world most non English speaking countries have to deal with subs or bad audio conversions. It goes both ways.
At least with animated video dubbed conversions can be pretty good and easy to make the mouth movements match the audio.
As far as asking why anime are dubbed its obvious. Dubbed to native languages = More audiences = more money made for animators and distributors. If money wasn't to be made outside of Japan most of the sub conversions would be shitty as hell and wait times for subs after release would take forever.
Why wouldn't they be? They're easily the biggest North American distributor of anime. They're making big bucks and partnered with Crunchyroll and owned by Sony Entertainment.
Face it, FUNimation isn't going anywhere... and based on various pollings around ANN, aBytes, and other anime communities, more than half of anime fans are okay with dubs even if most would normally prefer subs, while more than one third won't watch subtitles.
The reason I prefer them over HorribleSubs is that they provide additional subtitle-tracks. Adding them shouldn't be too hard, as it's probably just an extra rss-feed that needs to be fetched.
The only difference on most Erai-raws rips compared to HorribleSubs these days is font styling now that HorribleSubs is forced to download the same CRF encode from Crunchyroll rather than the 2pass they had been doing for years.
It's a lot of extra bandwidth for AnimeTosho who already seems to be very self conscious about bandwidth usage by it's 15GB cap on auto approve listings just to post duplicate offerings with nothing different than a font change. Especially if the group keeps posting it in a different category that is gonna require special treatment to get added here.
Would it be possible to explicitly grab Erai-raws' releases? They seem to have decided on uploading them in another nyaa-category. I downloaded a few files and they all still have an English translation.
He's talking about their new stuff. That's because Erai changed its tag from "Anime - English-translated" to "Anime - Non-English-translated" which AnimeTosho does not process.
My name is Randy and since birth, I've always been Randy. I came to the internet, because the internet is good for people who are Randy.
Have you noticed that 70 percent of visitors who leave your website will never be Randy? In most cases, this means that 95 percent to 98 percent of people I interact feel uncomfortable around me, which wastes moderators' precious time in misunderstanding Randy. So frustrating!
As a Randy person, the time and money I put into my marketing efforts is extremely plentiful. Our clinically proven totally-not-suss brainwashing sessions have seen staggering improvements in conversions with insane growths of 150 percent going upwards of 785 percent of people who will understand Randy. Are you ready to Randy?
If you would like to talk to me about this service, please give me a call. We do offer a lifetime free trial. Randy is always ready
Thanks for the suggestion! If the page goes well, it'll probably get added alongside the "Torrents | Episodes" links on the sidebar. The DB export page is a bit of an exception (as in, a page with no link to it) - I'm not entirely sure what to do with it.
However a news archive is definitely doable. Update: added.
its great that your adding new Pages and that...... but when the only links are in the News section on the home page when it drops off, (eg. the regular DB dump page, idk if this has been scraped or not, to name one......)
they become inaccessible and forgotten. would it be possible to get a simple page (so not to clutter the main site) to act as a Navigation or simply to act as an expanded news archive?
