Hi Admin,
Would you add the above to the Shutdown page?
Or just add this, “I don't intend to ever come back to this project later” to the top of that page?
It’s been a nice ride, thank you for all the fish, but most here do understand that having to walk away cold turkey from a huge time sink is in your own best interest.
Best Regards, Onii-chan loves you (unless you're scum!)
anyone got any reccomended alternatives to AT, ive been using the AT usenet indexer for most of my anime

Most the encoders you named have the encoding settings in the mediainfo (some groups contain this in the torrent description). Figure out how to copy the syntax info ffmpeg or handbrake (if you prefer having a GUI).
Do note anime encoding groups tend to have their settings optimised for anime and some source files are not suitable for encoding.

Thank you for the very clearly written post, and for expressing your reasons in a way that we the animetosho fans can understand.
It's the end of an era then, and all we can do is give thanks in as heartfelt a way as we can muster, like Aquours standing at the gates of Otonokizaka Jogakuen: *Bows* "Arigatougozimas"

That's an interesting idea, but I don't really see the point in it unfortunately.
Firstly, this site wasn't designed to be operated by anyone other than myself, and there's a lot of accumulated knowledge that I have that anyone taking over would take quite some time to acquire. Thus if I just handed over the reins, they'd undoubtedly struggle without help from me. Even if I didn't assist and they someone figured it all out from day one, your suggestion still requires me to monitor them, which is something I don't want to do. Also the idea of pulling the plug on someone who's volunteering their efforts doesn't bode well with me, and I can't see motivated people liking such an arrangement anyway.
If someone does want to "take over", I'll be releasing the database/code so that they can do so, regardless of the issue above. They'll be able to run their own AT clone on their own terms without the added baggage of needing to pay tribute to me.
I'm hoping this shutdown encourages AT alternatives, which is something I've actually always wished for. I'm a believer that "competition" is beneficial to the community overall.
---
I don't intend to ever come back to this project later, so the 'hiatus' idea isn't what I'm after.

@those who compress and change video/audio files
Whenever I use movavi to try to do this, it turns out like crap. Any advice? (like use a different program or what to do to not make them crap looking)
I literally tried making the new Divinity trailer just more compressed to a reasonable file size like megusta/Elite/Judas/Ember/Sokudo and it turned out like a pile of dinosaur shit.

admin-san, have you considered handing the site over to some trusty anons, whilst maintaining an kill switch? I'm sure faggots from /a/ would jump at the chance. If you acted as basically the site landlord it would mean if any volunteers you choose drive it into the ground or abuse the site you could simply pull the plug.
Having others run it whilst you maintain control over the url etc would also give you the chance to treat this year as a hiatus, meaning you could take up the reigns again later. Your obviously emotionally connecting to the site, and I'm sure you understand that a lot of users feel connected to the site too, even though its just an anime site, it's our anime site if you know what I mean. . 15 years, fook, what was first link here? K-On!!? Angel Beats?

Thanks for sharing
People, gimme links to your fave site that has a front page of updating anime, preferably with jpgs of the anime keyviz like here https://animetosho.org/animes. Oh, incoming episodes of Donguas would be nice too.
Basically everything remains the same except that no new torrents will appear. So I suppose the front page being in some form of stasis sounds about right.
Can you give us an idea of what to expect? Will it be an overnight thing where the front page goes into stasis? Sorry if you've already explained it in another post already.

I hereby declare that a preservation order has been issued on the animetosho website on behalf of anons everywhere. Animetosho must stay, it's the law. Sorry admins but your not going anywhere p
Thank you to the admins for building and maintaining what is probably the best source of anime on the internet, I'm sorely going to miss this place if it goes.
