Tried it a long time ago, it might have improved, but when I installed it it was a resource hog and also downloads a lot of torrents you don't actually need because of its descentralized nature. They could have just saved some metadata (like name) and magnet hashes into a sqlite db and used them when you start the download (if the torrent is dead, it wouldn't matter anyway) but no, they had to dl hundreds or thousands of actual torrent files. Kinda off topic, but thats also a reason I won't use zeronet, because of its trash implementation it stores 10s of thousands of json files with info that could have been stored in a db instead. Also, regarding tribler, it routes some of its traffic through your pc, a bit like tor, so you might be found liable if it is some shady shit like CP. There was and article about that on torrent freak. They even mention on the site anonimity is not 100% complete.
HEVC kills the fine details and fine grain effect that is only preservable with a *high* bitrate. So any bit-starved HEVC or even AVC encodes (below 2.5 GB per episode) ruins quality. So in other words, if no need for HEVC if your watching 1080 mini encodes.
Personally not into micro`s, I buy high-end so want to watch in high-end. Haven't been impressed with any micros tried for 720 or 1080 so wouldn't bother with micro 4k for movies. Micro anime is ok. Much less compression
As someone who has sought and used/watched HEVC videos since 2-3 years ago, I can confirm that minimum MB/min of good quality videos is the same for both AVC and HEVC. And of course when the same sizes are available, I prefer to download HEVC encoded one due to superior image quality it provides. I personally prefer HEVC mostly because of superior image quality it offers at the same size of AVC, not for its greater compression capabilities and (much(?)) smaller size.
Agree. For me, especially H.264 High 4:4:4 Predictive performs very well on 720/1080 compared with size/quality of H.265. And yeah, x264 has reached a high level of stability and performance after more than 13 years.
The compression ability of HEVC in comparison to AVC has been greatly exaggerated. The added compression comes at the loss of detail/quality, while same quality across the board ends up with similar size results (like 20-40 MB difference in 720p for an anime episode, not the hundreds of MB or GBs in 1080p cases mini-encoders would have you believe).
4KBD is HEVC 10-bit though of course and any 4K encodes should remain as such because only HEVC supports HDR (High Dynamic Range) which is the main benefit of 4K media.
Outside of 4K media, you may as well continue to utilize AVC as most of the groups in the anime scene have done, mainly because while HEVC isn't bad, the encoder that everyone would be using (x265) isn't exactly optimized currently (like 3x encode time for same quality among other concerns), though it is of course making progress.
4K is the next big thing in TVs, and 4K videos are starting to pop up everywhere. But 4K video takes up a ton of space, which makes it hard to download and stream in the best quality possible. Thankfully, one technology is changing that, and it’s known as High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), or H.265.
It’s taking a while for this new technology to become ubiquitous, but it’s happening—4K UHD Blu-rays use HEVC, K-Lite Codec Pack (Mega) and also VLC 3.0make HEVC and 4K videos more watchable on your PC, and the iPhone can even save recorded videos in HEVC to save storage space.
Damn.... Lol. Maybe you shouldn't browse in public places then. Some people just dont get the appeal of the amazing diverse story telling of anime. Been hooked since the 80`s. Mobile Suit Gundam and Akira made me an anime lifer

I'm just about to comment on the skin for the site Iirc this site got elsie skin which is almost the same color scheme as julie, is it possible to bring it back? or using userscript extension to change the skin if not possible
I'm more inclined to use it than julie due to the pic on left side is easy to locate while i'm browsing in public, we've got sensitive moron who thinks every anime is like for paedophile due to several preacher's propaganda
using elsie (or is it ouka?), the pic is harder to locate due to darker color and the image is not repeated down to the bottom (again, it's from my memory)
It said "We're preparing your download, please wait..." a few hours ago but now almost all Solidfiles links today only gives "This file/folder could not be found." I wonder if their server broken or something.
Hi Admin, i have a small issue with maneuvering through the pages.
When i click "Older Entries", i am brought to the next page without problems. However, pressing on the "Newer Entries" does not bring me back to the previous page but to the first page instead.
can you do something about how search handles special characters? so searching Pokemon will also pull up results matching Pokémon, instead of doing separate searches for both (as it is now).
While the suggestion of OP is somewhat meaningless, screenshots/mediainfo/etc are really helpful as they let us know exactly what is going to be downloaded (considering the fact that these important info are absent from absolute majority of posts on sources like Nyaa).
Your first question are incredibly dumb. imo. "what's the reasoning behind allowing only English subs". It's already on FAQ where this site purpose is providing English-translated anime with direct download links in the first place. You don't need another reason. That's basically same as asking "why nyaa.si only allowing Eastern Asian content." "I found strange is that some non-english fansubs posted torrents it in the English category" Some non-English fansubs or fanrips are still putting English subs in their releases, it's called dual-subs or multiple-subs. Both of them are still containing English subs and allowed to post it under English-translated Anime category on nyaa.si.
