Thanks for the suggestion. I'm a little unwilling to do it at this stage as users may be used to the current behavior. There are also a few drawbacks with doing that: - difficult to open the link in the current tab, if that's what you want - opening in a new window/tab is actually not allowed in standard XHTML, though I suppose it doesn't really matter - although it's not too hard to tell which links are external, it may be a bit ambiguous as to which link opens in new tabs
I suppose it could be enabled via a preference, but to be honest, it'd be pretty low on the priority list (read: not likely to be done). Sorry about that.
In addition to the handy ad-blockers Envy discussed, there are ways to add to or alter how your computer handles links. For example, if you're using Firefox, there's a nice add-on you can configure to click and drag to open links in a new tab.
Extra benefit: if x parts to download, form a box around the parts and it will open x tabs.
If you're not using Firefox, you can see if your browser has something similar to offer, or if it allow you to define defaults for opening links in options, or whether you can alter button actions in your mouse driver.
Can you please make it so when you click on one of the mirrors it opens a new tab? I understand that a middle mouseclick does exactly the same but it seems so much more convenient than taking my current tab to the filehost. Sometimes ads pop up which you can't back out from. Then I have to load up a new tab with this site and do a new search all over again. Maybe do the same with all other links, especially the ones that redirect you to external sites, that way managing what you're looking for seems more natural. For me it would make the site better.
For any interested, Japan's NHK News recently added to their free live stream of their English-translated broadcasts. You can watch live earthquake updates and damage footage. Normally, they have half-hour news on the top of the hour followed by half hour cultural programs (travel, cooking, etc.)
Thanks for the note! I'm not sure if anything can easily be done about it. I switched servers about two weeks ago, which seems to have improved things, but it's still the same provider. Will probably eventually get around to trialing another provider if this occurs often.
Regarding Usenet, seems that weird bug where the last segment of each part getting lost briefly came back for about 4 hours since the time of this post.
Or, you can gamble your luck and try some Anime Tosho voodoo magic. My 8-ball says that your desires may be fulfilled if you paste the following into your address bar, hit Enter, and reload the page. javascript:void(document.cookie='ant[theme]=121;path=/')
(Chrome may eat the 'javascript:' bit at the front just because; make sure you don't let it have its way)
I doubt you'll find many website owners out there who actually plan to shutdown their website, and I don't consider myself different in that regard. Anime Tosho launched mid 2011, so we're nearly 5 years old!
There are questions/requests that get posted around here every now and then - anyone is welcome to help out with these. Or providing bits of related/interesting information can be useful.
Or, if you prefer coding, there's the PAR2 and NNTP clients that we use to enable NZB generation here. As I'm the only person currently maintaining those projects, contributions are certainly welcome.
I've also just updated the FAQ section with pretty much what I said above.
You guys are awesome, thanks so much <3. Being a coder myself, I can only imagine how much work and time goes into this. Is there any way for an everyday user like to to help/support this site?
But, if it's really the fact that Mr. Tibb is already not here, I hope he's happy with how, or where, or what he wish. And I perhaps can not thanks him (or her?) for what's been provided to us.
