Your attitude is one reason why I claim what you say attracts provocation. It would do you good to think through your comments before you make them.
It's of no benefit to you to piss people off, even if it's deserved. Unless you find the ego boost you get from speaking down to them is too juicy to pass up - just be aware of the consequences you'll face, which I ultimately can't do much to help you there.

3. Well I didnt see anything inherantly wrong with your encode. My 2 cents of input:
* The font attributes for the subs is quite questionable. I hate fat bolded black backrounds. Yourse are WAY to fat.
* The naming does not comform with any common standard. For anime you either use absolute numbering excluding season label or season followed by episode eg S02E01.
* You usually do not include multiple language titles in file name. Alternative names for torrent yes but it is kinda poinless to use it in file name.
* Seperating tags [1080p x264 10bits AAC] may also be a good idea. I'd use [1080p][x264 10bit][AAC]
* x264 in 10 bits? Now thats a verry nieche choice. You usually go for x264 in default config to support older hardware or x265 10 bit for better compression.

PS: You missed my point again that I blacklisted Trix for crap quality.

Whilst I agree that ignoring problematic comments is best, I think it's a bit harsh to blame people who don't.
Having insults thrown at you can be mentally taxing, and I don't blame anyone who feels the need to do something about it. You might deal with it fine, but others have varying degrees of resilience.

Having said that, there's only so much one can do to stem this, so people should at least try to make an effort to deal with trolls better.

Yes, he said he was new and brags about how great he is at encoding. The point of AV1 was to create files that were smaller to aid in streaming while keeping the quality of the source. His files are larger than the source with no IMHO "improvement" of quality to the average user to justify the larger file size.

The reason of the ban on Nyaa wasn't toxicity, it was the spoilery screenshot and I truly don't regret it, y'all deserved that tenfold.

Usually yes, but it's the unusual cases that cause the most trouble. So much so that most restrictions imposed on sites are to cater to these cases.

It's actually quite different. The first completely rejects comments (input filter) whilst the latter rejects viewing (output filter).
Doing the first may encourage users to register to comment. Doing the latter likely won't have this effect.

Regardless, I don't feel compelled to do either at this stage.

1. The whole homeless situation I described was an example, of course there'd be far better ways to help a homeless person than by donating money that'd end up spent in no time and in terrible ways. The point was just to say that faced with a problem, it's best to face it rather than turn a blind eye.

2. The harrassment you're talking about is from my "young encoder" days when i tried myself at fansubs and got hated for it, then I changed tag, uploaded for a good year or two until someone said "Oh, it's HIM", and all the Nyaanons arrived in masses to hate on me for stuff I did in 2022, yay. There's no ounce of "constructive", only "criticism" and based on nothing.

I do believe/know there's some honest people out there though, and I believe that if they thought my encodes sucked, they would've given some kind of feedback.

This is a prime example of people looking at the ressult and trying to mitigate it instead of focusing on the problem. The ressult is that they became homeless. Their was a cause for why they became homeless. That is the problem. Unless you find out why they bcame homeless you will never solve the problem. Giving them money just mitigates the ressult. You provide them what they want removing any incentive for them to try in solve their own problems. They can get money - spend it on whatever luxury goods they need and continue to beg for more. The thing is both parties are here. And engagement can only be fueled by both. If you don't get a response you usually move on to harass other people... Now if you response to trash talk and trash talk them back they will get persistent obviously. But that is your own fault. Asking mods to solve your own personal inability to ignore a trash comment is your own fault and no 1 can fix it. If you think your right when responding to trash comments you only feed the trolls. Usually they undersand that they are trolling and dont mean anything that is being said but they do get enjoyment out of seing your responses.

Well usually they only get persistent if they get attention. If no one respons and fuels the flame wars they usually go away. Maybe pop some IP bans on commenting but those are usually just another form of attention - how fast can I get banned.

"No moderation" is a little extreme, in my book - I think most would agree that some degree is warranted, to at least remove spam and whatnot.
I personally think comments should at least have some degree of value to people who decide to read them. A page full of insults is likely not useful to most readers.

Having said that, I'm fairly light on moderation, so I'd align with your suggestion more closely than most others.

The vast majority of comments here are anonymous, so it wouldn't be too different from just hiding all comments (which can be done by collapsing the "X comment(s):" section on pages).
