It's a great set-up. I come here mainly for the magnets these days, but sometimes I'll use the DDL. Years ago I would have been glad for the audio files but I retired from doing releases. I can understand the hobby aspect considering I didn't take donations, it was fun for the years I was active and almost all my batch releases are still being seeded.
I wouldn't completely absolve myself from blame. Things didn't quite turn out the way I had hoped, though I didn't think it'd be much of an issue. What I didn't anticipate is that the host's control panel reboot functionality was broken, so I do put most of the blame on them, but it did start with me.
I do try to keep this site functioning as much as I can, but this is a hobby project and I'm not interested in paying for redundancy. Basically it's a "I'll do my best, no promises" setup.
I just really hope an incident like this doesn't happen again but Ik the admin can only do so much with processes and infastracture they have already but I really hope we can minimize incidents like this in the future, maintenance shouldnt cause web server outages like this...
no hate to the admin though I realize it must be a nightmare keeping everything running, it obviously not your fault this happened
feed.animetosho.org should be restored at this point. storage.animetosho.org is still transferring. Since it's been down for a long time, I decided to open it up before it's fully restored. Some stuff will work, some won't.
For those interested in events, the new server got delivered, but had the same issues as the existing one. I had a hunch that the problem was the host's control panel, hence affected all their servers and not mine specifically, but I can only speculate. Since they were offering me refunds, I ordered from a different host. I don't know if I'll stay with them long term, but this arrangement should be fine for now.
At the time of writing, a fair portion has been restored, but to answer your question anyway, it'd take longer to set up something different unfortunately.
has the server been fixed or replaced? our torrent client miru.watch seems to be functioning like normal now-- since we tosho API /secondary web server
Since we don't know when the AT storage will be fixed, would it be possible to provide alternate third-party download links for the subtile files in the meantime?
oh man that must suck, you have my upmost respect admin-- its definetly annoying having to go back and forth between the host and client services like that. hope you get back up and running soon. wishing you the best.
Current status of the storage server: host has not provided any further update on what they can do to recover it. They aren't able to provide a replacement either, as they don't have any stock. I've put an order in for another server, but despite being marked as 'in stock', the delivery ETA is stated to be 3 days from now.
(the support ticket currently has 38 replies, a large portion of them being me bugging them for updates)
Greetings! I am unable to download nzb files, as it appears I reached a query limit. I have now configured my client to reduce queries to a minimum. Is there a timeframe when I will be allowed to download again? I am trying to download old Doraemon and Sailor Moon for my kids. I have searched for rules as to the maximum number of queries but can't find any information. Thank you!
hi admin, we use a torrent client called miru (thaunknown) and its heavily reliant on tosho's API services, hope your server problems get fixed as its affecting us as well. Glad the website is still accessible though. Much love, hope it gets sorted.
A small question thought, do you know if the upload to newsgroup is still working ? I looked via an indexer and it tells me the last upload was from 24h ago.
I think it's fine the way it is now. If that person downloaded the audio instead of the full file then it's kinda their own fault for ignoring the "audio" on the left.
Unfortunately no. I keep bugging the host every few hours; they blame the lack of staff around during the weekend to do anything. The latest update (which took them a very long time to provide) is that the server may not be fixable (they can't IPMI), so they'll issue me a new one. I still haven't gotten that yet, or any further updates unfortunately.
If I do get issued a new server, I'll start the setup process ASAP, which will take several hours at least. Then transferring ~880GB of files will likely take many more. That's as much as I know of right now. Sorry for the extended downtime and hope that helps.
If people are mistakenly downloading the Audio extracts without realising that they're not the full file, I'm interested in ways to make the distinction more obvious. I'm happy to hear suggestions on how to emphasise those links as being audio-only, if anyone has any ideas.
