Japanese have E-DVD which is actually 576p (thanks in part to the difference between a 50Mz electrical infrastructure versus a 60Mz one and cutting back the TV cabinet a little).  Western release DVD's however are only 480p.  Ahodomo sent for the Japanese E-DVD.

Nyaa doesn't allow upscale listings.

DVD is 720x576 anamorphic I believe, so encoding it to 1024x576 is okay. 704x480 is a little conservative.

Ahodomo's is an upscale seeing how this was only released on DVD.

Ahodomo had better resolution: 1024x576p than Chihiro (704x480p).  So which has the better translation?  Don't know yet.

This is a one episode OVA between seasons 3 & 4, I believe.  There are several positive comments from fans at AniDB that if you like the show you'll enjoy this.  It's the Halloween show, which you may have seen when Ahodomo released it last Halloween, appropriately enough.  (However, this week marks the first day of Fall in the southern hemisphere, so maybe Chihiro can argue this to be season appropriate for Australia and such...)

As for this release, Kirsten of Chihiro wrote: "Yeah, we were planning to do season 4 but things happened to make it so that never happened."

If the commentary has no subs, I'm not interested.

Minor problem with the anonfile files (and perhaps the rest that use splitted files). The .001 is a .000.7z when unzipped, just go into the folder options and uncheck "hide the extention of known files" so you can delete the .7z from the file and then join them with HJsplit

This looks like they just remuxed the doremi sub and put their name on it instead.

And to anticipate your last question, I believe the commentary is Japanese audio with no subtitle translation, hence only of interest to some people, hence not included by default.

And to guess your next question -why didn't Coalgirls just include it in the episodes-- probably because it would increase the file size of ep 1 from 600MB to 850MB and ep2 from 525MB to about 700MB.

Works as a patch.  If you're unsure of how, find another patch download and look at the bat file for the command format.

It's for if you want to incorporate the commentary track.  Then the commentary is selectable as an audio track during playback
