All good things must come to an end. I've been enjoying the nzb posting for some years now since I moved back to primarily using Usenet. A lot of anime on Usenet is probably from this site which is probably the best long term access to files as torrents can rapidly die. I'm sure others will take up a similar mantle, at least for the usenet component. I have downloaded articles, its a pain and most applications just collapse under downloading nearly a terabyte of headers. (I was/semi-actively looking for some of the oldest fansubs on Usenet).

Hopefully a few request (none planned right now) can be filled to age in the future of these files.

I wish you the best.

Thank you so much for taking care of this site during all these years! It worked so reliably and smoothly that I tend to forget that it must have had to take lots of effort to make it work well.
I liked that the frontend stayed simple and "no BS" all this time despite the trends and fads (mobile-first, excessive use of javascript, ads, no compact design, wasted space) that went on everywhere else.
I also especially appreciated being able to download the subtitles of episodes in other languages or for unseeded torrents.

I wish you all the best in the future and with a load off your mind afterwards.

It seems pretty clear you've put a lot of thought into this decision just as it seems clear you put a ton of blood, sweat and tears into this site!

Considering the significant chunk of your life spent nurturing this place, it's pretty obvious that it has meant a lot to you as well!

Like a bunch of folks have already explained this site has been an insane resource on many fronts. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Now, as I glumly go forth and consider the reality of an animetosho-less future, you have my utmost gratitude, admin.
I'm getting a little panicky thinking about it but thank you so much conceiving, building and actively maintaining it for so long!

As much as an orderly hand off of the site would be awesome, I can think of quite a few reasons why wouldn't make sense for this place. It is unheard of to host an unmonetized anime piracy platform, especially considering maintaining it does take time and money. Handing over the ~15 yr  over would need a whole lot of trust, for someone like me at least.

Anyways, thanks so much admin! I've got a ton of respect for you, you've carried yourself with aplomb, a gentleman and a scholar if you will.

admin, you're a legend, enjoy the unexpected new adventures the future brings and also the ones you plan and execute on your own!
Cheers, so long, and thanks for all the fish/shoes!

p.s. I'm sure it's already been brought up or it's super obvious, but what anime is the little octo/tako guy from your avatar from?

Thank you very much for your time working on AT. I've been relying on your usenet uploads for many years now, and it's going to be rough going to something else - but I understand why moving on could be better for you and there's no ill will here. I hope it can remove a stress from your life.

Thanks for everything. Hugely appreciate having a cleaner layout such as this (I only use it for torrents, but find it easier to navigate for weekly usage than any alternative I've tried).
I wish you a clean transition and all the best for the road ahead.
is there going to be a sub attachment dl link for this?

I've been using this website for about 10 years. It's been a great help in many cases. Finding the best quality releases without your screenshots wouldn't have been possible. Being able to download the subtitles (in order to translate to my own language) was quite a feature. This was my haven for real.
I deeply thank you and wish you the best for the rest of the journey of life you have ahead of you.
I can't help but ask... Can't you leave someone as the main admin to keep the website alive? And if not, why...? I'm quite curious. :D

Fake upload from a different account on Nyaa that still gets the green trusted highlight. Malware with a .exe file and dll while the folder has a big file to fake the size.
Sorry  butt above my paygrade !

Before animetosho, there was a similar site to animetosho called otakucop existed before 2012, But the difference is otakucop, hosts own files.

You should release the AniDB data. Theyre kind of a scurge on the anime community having the most accurate data yet holding it back behind such an aggressive api.

Thanks

As someone that contributed to many releases (torrents, not DDL) that end up reposted on this site, this is rough.
Just recently one big archive went down that had many years of releases, mostly because the owner wanted to move on with his life, not unlike here.
And as someone that really doesn't want to get involved with private trackers and prefers to only use public trackers, this was a good fallback for archives, while the DDL links die easily after a few weeks or months, the nzbs are good for many years.
It was also invaluable because it archived subs, letting you compare or use other subs without having to download the release, if it was even seeded at all, for old enough ones.
Even the nyaa post/comment archive is useful as some torrents can be hidden or deleted, and it served as a cross-reference.
While for most AT is just for weekly DDLs, the site was so incredibly useful outside of it.
I really hope someone will pick up the torch and merge their db with yours, and I hope most software gets released to save the amount of work others have to do - AT always had high performance and a very minimal HTML-only design (as opposed to "modern" javascript only monstrosities) despite not running on anything but cheap dedicated servers and VPSes.
Some part of me feels tempted to try to continue it, but the realization of all the daily/weekly maintenance work that would involve prevents me from committing, things like series detection, stuck torrents, retrying on upload failures, spam, manually having to let some items through, supporting new DDL providers and so on, are things that probably would take quite a bit of time, and  as someone that handles something similar already, I know it takes a good chunk of time even when a lot of it is automated.
I genuinely hope someone does continue it, at the very least mirroring nyaasi/TT and especially posting releases to usenet and a few DDLs that are fast enough.
I disagree with the claim that leaving it unmaintained would be bad - I think even extracting subs, posting to usenet and mirroring nyaa posts - which doesn't need new DDL maintenance is immensely valuable to most users, even if no provider besides gofile or some other fast one was supported, it'd still be more than enough for many.
There's nothing wrong with nyaa being "unmaintained", it's fast, it's up and releasers can post to it, this is all we really need. The only bad part is that they no longer allow registration which prevents new blood from posting.
Thanks for the amazing service admin, and I hope someone picks up the torch, or at minimum provides a mirror with the nzbs/subs/nyaa posts, it doesn't even have to have the screenshots if they take that much space, although raw subs would really be nice (attachments often are duplicates and not as important).

The current plan is to include those.
The one thing I think I'll hold back on is AniDB data (not sure they exactly like the idea).

Well, now I'm having a panic attack.  Fantastic.

I'm not sure of what to do without this place.
The title suggests all seasons and extras, but only s4v2 files in nzb (3GB+ zip file)
You'll have to get everything else from alternate post:  https://animetosho.org/view/sokudo-dan...n.n1692906 (20GB+ zip file)
Wow, [MCR] a blast from the past. He released quite a few shows I would snag back in the day.

I'm surprised Anime Tosho lasted this long with all of the anti-piracy stuff going on.
Why are files all so massive now?
