there are many methods to upscale without ai and all those methods will get you better video than what your tv would do, at the end it depends on skills of encoder

Mystery meat so to take a bite:

- video title is bwings for some reason
- 702x480, 59.940 fps (the source image is pretty poor without adding a load of gohsted frames), AVC 221 MB
- Audio tracks are AC-3 192kbs and are not labelled (1 Japanese, 2 English)
- There is no subtitle track (sloppy but if you're here you can grab attachments from a different release)
- encode doesn't match anything on anidb

You can say that again.It's stayed true to its roots even after foreign movie studios(Hollywood) gained control (in 2017) of the Anime industry. Fafners creators said no thank you to outside involvement. They tried to keep it from being made. So "Fafner: The Beyond" was made in segments and released into theaters first. Ticket sales helped pay for the next set of episodes. Its streaming on one of the big platforms now. They had to include it. Otherwise fans might start wondering what reason could they have for not lic. the show for export. Because its creators said Its mot us.  
Anime is unlimited amounts of unrestricted fiction created by unrelenting perfectionists. Everything else is pseudo-anime, It looks like it, but its has no soul, no imagination, no inspiration to use your own imagination, and your not invited in.

It is bloat even if it's coming from a legit service. The show is not produced anywhere near 4K, and this sharpening filter looks horrendous. Best to just get a 1080p CR WEB-DL.
