Anime Tosho will begin shutting down permanently on 2026-05-09

This is a somewhat temporary page made especially for the beta version of this website. It's to collect all your death threats, love messages, requests to the code monkeys or just suggestions/issues/questions/criticisms/idle talk or whatever feedback you think is worth our database space.

I've found a workaround, so it's working now, but it may not last long, unfortunately...

Does it mean, all collected stuff, which has direct links, may be lost in the future? Would be very sad, to loose this feature.

Possibly. I somewhat expected to happen sooner or later though.
Storing many terabytes worth of data isn't easy, and doing so reliably isn't cheap, so...

Just a suggestion, instead of storing file in long term, how about making the direct link appear as soon as torrent processed? Just like yukinoshita site but only stored for 2weeks before auto deleted

A quick Google search will show you that many countries now have site block-list, especially file-sharing sites. It's worse on India.

Then wouldn't it be better to scrap the Direct link feature and just add re-fetching per request with some kind of time limit (to stop spamming)

AT wasn't intended for individual requests. It's a mass distribution system for new content. After all, there's no sense in creating links at 30 download hosts for single user's requests. The system matches the site goals, as found in the FAQ:

"AnimeTosho only mirrors new files posted to TokyoTosho/Nyaa's anime category and does not accept arbitrary mirror requests. I suggest trying to ask someone to help you on a filesharing forum, or perhaps use a torrent to DDL mirroring service (or get your own seedbox)."

And here are the instructions under article comment boxes:

"Please be aware of the following before commenting:

Expired links do NOT get reuploaded as files are deleted after we process them"

Those are the intentions, and the Direct links are a bonus.

Thing is though, for fetching torrents to a download link, such services already exist.

It's just that many don't want to pay for one*. I also have no intention of paying for a seedbox for others to use for free either (though if someone is willing to do such a thing, they're welcome to share it here).
* Free seedboxes may exist if you search, though if you do find one, they're usually quite restricted

I also don't see much need for such a short term storage/ddl solution. Within the first two weeks there are typically links of all currently supported hosters active.

What are the rules regarding what can be asked to be put into the temporal file storage? I know that dead links for older entries can't be reuploaded, yet I noticed that some of the titles in the req have entries on this site with dead links...

No rules or guidelines were ever posted about req as far, as I know. It was announced as a temporary service while admin was waiting to start some unrelated project on an temporarily unused server. Since then, some users have offered to provide their own links for requests, like 00sas, which is nice since I don't think AT is all that enthusiastic about bothering with individual requests and manual additions.

Here is general AT policy as stated in the current FAQ:
Q: "Can you upload [some arbitrary file]?"

Almost a week ago this was posted on nyaa. When the page was opened it still said "torrent is still being processed - not all files may be displayed." Checked it again but still nothing. Went to nyaa to check on torrent. A blank page loaded stating "The torrent you are looking for does not appear to be in the database."

Everyday more and more websites embrace HTTPS and make themselves, and the Web as a whole, more secure.
Just in the past few months many sites have implemented encryption on their communication with visitors and users.
It's great to see more file hosting sites have started to go HTTPS, from SF, 1Fishier and CnU to UptoBox and ...
And it's great to visit Anime Tosho in HTTPS :)

SF (SolidFiles) is not https. UptoBox, 1Fishier and CnU are, but 1Fisher is on it's last legs and no CnU links here for a long time.

Encryption is fine, but what you should really be wondering is whether download sites like SolidFiles delete their logs frequently, if you're looking for something to worry about. Because they have your IP and know what you've downloaded.
