Technically it wasn't pretending to be a 22 minute episode. It was pretending to be part 2 which could be confused as a sub fix. There are a few fixes that are that small here.
Just to be clear I'm 48 and haven't suffered an infection since the mid 90`s when ftp and peer to peer were the main 'public' file sharing sources.

I was serious.  I wondered if some people rely on automated download and extraction or something and have to hope their anti-virus software catches it.

Otherwise, this was obvious.  Anyone who fell for it deserves to be someone's drone.

I never downloaded it. Multiple protection tools and methods at my disposal but Bitdefender Total Security has good web protection. Received notification before I scanned the link.

My cousin is a high level IT for the government. I get a lot of info from him on new threats to be aware of.

But yeah I hear you.... Most people are clueless  (me when I was young) download everything and infected all the time.

Have you made any changes recently?  ISP, browser update, browser settings?  Are you using a computer or mobile device?

With no other info to go on, how about trying a different browser?  Firefox would be my first choice.  Then Chrome.

No changes anywhere. Can't access site on both laptop and mobile using same internet connection.

That points to the exact same location as the main domain. The main domain announces both v4 and v6 addresses, whilst the ipv4.animetosho.org only announces IPv4, but it's the same v4 address. This should only be an issue if you have dual IP stack setup, but not configured correctly (or more likely, you've set up dual stack but your ISP doesn't support it).

It's a trivial thing, but from ipv4.animetosho.org Direct links are always an "Invalid Request".

Our domains are generally announced over both IPv4 and IPv6, and this includes Direct links. If you have dual IP stack (both IPv4 and v6 support), if you force a v4 on the main domain, you'll break Direct links which'll go through a v6.

If you don't have IPv6 support, Direct links will work from both URLs.

Recommendation: don't use ipv4.animetosho.org, it was there for a workaround, but no-one should need it.

Have you tried a traceroute to the server? If you don't know how, there's some instructions in the FAQs page under "Issues".
If it's getting close, that is, traceroute shows that this site itself is blocking you, the host apparently blocks some IPs - unfortunately I can't control this (I wish they wouldn't do it though).
It's listed here, under Firewall.

The Doki BD batches that have been coming through have been refreshing -- 8GB or so for 1080p seasons.

Makes 30GB batches look absurd.

There may or may not be a reason. If there are reasons, it could include being too lazy, not liking the release or not wanting to overload the server.
Really, manual passing torrents through is just a bonus, making use of spare server capacity. Larger torrents generally have less of a chance of being fetched.
