maybe you can try this site --> http://umediafire.com/
it has some cool features

:)

Thanks for the suggestion.
Does anyone have any anecdotal evidence of it working well?
12/05/2012 15:55 — Blueberry
I would love to help mirror mediafire links and such but it's so hard to keep track of things on this website. I wish there was some sort of forum or CMS that can allow people to PM me/Message me or a thread where I could keep my links =|. Any ideas, admin?
14/05/2012 03:11 — aniluv
I would be most grateful. =D
14/05/2012 18:33 — Blueberry
I'll see what I can do.
15/05/2012 10:24 *admin
I had originally intended to do something like this, but it looks like it won't happen at this point, with so much going on for me.
Maybe you could start up a blog perhaps? Or use an existing forum that doesn't mind this?

If not, I'm happy to simply install an existing script here (without much integration; provide suggestions if you wish), as you've been pretty helpful around here, but I don't think it would be any better than if you started one.
15/05/2012 15:20 — Blueberry
Well, you seem like a very great guy/girl when it comes to persistently keeping things updated and responding in here. I'll see what I can do to help.
15/05/2012 23:04 *Blueberry
I dislike the current color of the site but I'm not sure what I want to change it too at the moment, lol.

But here's a link - > (Currently setting up things that will hopefully get something going in the near-ish future)

I couldn't find a blog to connect to that but- tell me what your name will be admin and I'll get set you up so you can post/edit anime posts.
18/05/2012 10:02 — admin
Wow, looks like you've put a fair effort in that Blueberry!

Unfortunately I don't think I really have the time to really do anything there, so I'll let you manage the place.
Thanks for all the hard work and support! :)

Admin, you can try using peejeshare.com
This site provides full speed download and doesn't delete the files.
15/05/2012 10:25 — admin
Do you think I should perhaps replace Bayfiles with it?
15/05/2012 13:25 — Anonymous: "KEN"
Why not give it a try?
16/05/2012 09:27 — Anonymous
I personally like Bayfiles - please don't replace it. No captchas and the files seem to be online for a long time mostly.
But trying out new hosters additionally is nice :)
18/05/2012 10:04 — admin
The main issue is bandwidth - I feel I'm using a little too much already. So I'll need to disable something to enable another host unfortunately.

Though I have been spending a fair bit of time recently trying to improve the upload scheduler/selection system to use less bandwidth, so maybe when I'm done, I can squeeze another host in.

1. MediaFire seems to be irreplaceable, for some reason.  I guess that's because it's almost universally fast and almost universally available.  Every other service produces good results in some part of the world and bad results in others, judging from the variety of comments.  MU was the only other service that produced relatively consistently good results world-wide.  I think therefore the focus of our discussion should be on getting MF, instead of alternates and mirrors.

2. I assume MF has noticed all the traffic coming from here and wants to begin making some money from it, hence our current situation.  Rather than ask admin to do any more than he already is, if someone else would be willing to maintain a premium account with MF and arrange for the AT bots to use that account?  I don't see any other real alternatives.  (Well, maybe one but I'd feel bad -tricking MF by randomizing submissions and user addresses.)

3. I worry that the charm of this hobby will fade for admin.
15/05/2012 10:36 — admin
My guess would be that Mediafire apply takedown notices to both paid and free accounts. Maybe they're more lenient to paid accounts, but I doubt it'll be too different for us.
I'm currently trying the idea of cycling accounts every now and then to see how well that goes.

Due to how things are set up, I'm somewhat doubting Mediafire would know where exactly the links are being posted, neither do I think they particularly care. They make money from people using their service, not from stopping people - ideally, they'd do the minimum possible to comply with legal requirements.
16/05/2012 09:25 — Anonymous
Some suggestions:
1. Try not to use clickable links for Mediafire-Stuff. That way they won't get the referrer from here. [For example just make a box where the Mediafire-links are in and ready for copypaste ;) ] See http://torrentfreak.com/mediafire-star...ks-120422/
2. Just put all the files you upload to mediafire in password-protected .rar-part-archives with hidden filenames

Another option would be to somehow create protected .dlc containers for use with JDownloader.

Anyways keep up the good work :)
16/05/2012 12:59 — admin
HTTPS websites (like this one) don't send refers to HTTP pages, so that actually isn't a problem at all for us.

I'm thinking of "compressing" files a bit. I think encryption is unnecessary as you don't really gain much security from it. The idea is to prevent file fingerprinting from working, and compression should mess with the data enough to render fingerprinting practically useless. I somewhat doubt they go to such great efforts to read filenames from archives, but maybe I'm wrong.
This is somewhat tricky to implement though, as I'd have to write a streaming wrapper to pipeline into the uploader, which needs to be intelligent enough to seek backwards in the stream in response to an upload failure.

DLC has been suggested before, but I'd only consider it for making multi-part downloads easier. Having only DLC seems to severely limit one's options in downloaders.

Thanks for all the suggestions :)

First I wanna say this is thee best website I've ever come across for anime downloads :D makes my life so much easier! So I just have a lil suggestion, how about adding a page where it lists the anime by title and clicking it shows us all its' links? Because the way it works now we have to be searching for a specific series, but sometimes we just want to find something new to watch ya know?
18/05/2012 10:05 *admin
I'll probably eventually get to something of a listing of series, but I'd recommend the many existing sites out there, such as MAL, if you're looking to see what you want to watch.
I don't intend to replicate those types of places here, so AT will never be as nice for that sort of purpose.

Appreciate the suggestion nonetheless.

hmm.. for me this is the most fast and good with mediafire download link :D, but it's true that it's pretty hard to keep track on this web.
As for me, i usually check Anime*ake every day, it's have pretty good skin so you'll see what anime is recently out, but the links there are sucks, then i go to this site for download it. with that trick i'm the most fast-update anime in my school thanks for this site :D

anyway i think it's already good, i don't think you should change unnecessary things, just make sure the links aren't dead, and this site is perfect, cause you know.. after i missed it for few days, and all the links were dead T^T

it's good to be part on this site :D, keep the hard work guys!! XDXD
21/05/2012 09:54 — admin
Thanks for the feedback. To be honest, I quite like the organisation of AnimeTake and similar sites, so it'll probably be here eventually. I don't quite like categorising stuff (and haven't been), though the auto-detection script seems to work reasonably well.
I'm currently focusing on the back-end script though, so the front-end just needs to be workable at the moment.

Keeping links alive is really difficult to do unfortunately.
20/05/2012 03:30 — Anonymous
admin-san.. i've checked few page around here, you're sooo polite, sooo reliable, and sooo kind..
if you're a girl i'm sure you've become a great bride, if you are a guy i'm sure you'll success in anything you worked on..
i'm really amazed you do very useful work for a slug like us, ugh.. if only slob like me will help -__-
i still want to praise you, but i'm loss of word T^T
anyway keep the hardwork admin-sama~ i'm sure other slug like me out there is saved by you with this site!!
21/05/2012 10:02 — admin
A great bride may be... great, though one needs to have a great husband, otherwise it's somewhat wasted. I'd have to say that I would prefer to be a guy by your definition - being successful in anything sounds a lot more attractive and doesn't require marriage to make use of one's talents.
...
Oh wait, this is an anime site, where girls prefer marriage and beating up perverted guys...

Thanks for the compliment and glad you like this place.
(in reality though, often arrogance brings you success)
22/05/2012 01:08 — Anonymous
Sorry, but only a guy would give this answer.  So the record remains intact of no verified females having used the Internet so far.  That, and the number of PreCure series downloads around here should worry those concerned with the future of life on earth.

Now I'm off to watch the latest episode of Smile Precure  --Not for the storyline, but for the pulsating intense-color induced seizures.  Addictive, and very therapeutic as long as I don't swallow my tongue.
22/05/2012 09:13 *admin
That's too bad. I watch Precure for the deep and mind-blowing storyline - so you needn't worry about the future of this planet's dominant life form.
Of course, there are no verified females on the interwebs, but there certainly are heaps of unverified females. Verification is overrated anyway.
23/05/2012 14:48 *Altervis
so.. y-you're woman? oops sory, a girl r-right..?
uwaah.. i don't mind being beated up by you~~ hahaha..
don't worry about difficult thing, it's true arrogance can bring you success, but.. uuh.. how should i put it into words.. i think connection to others will be great help when you're in pinch (for me, usualy money and stuff... T^T)
anyway keep the hard work admin sama~~
(i'm anonymous above, and above my anon "Altervis", is me too  :D, i comment twice in a row because i think it's rude not to praise you for this wonderful work :D and sory i can only give complement orz, now i'm addicted praising you admin chan~ te hee..)
24/05/2012 08:22 — admin
I never said anything about my gender, merely commenting on what you said from an (what I like to consider) objective standpoint.
My identity must remain an absolute mystery - I'm sure you understand - to prevent the ninjas from finding me.

Thanks for the tip Altervis.

(I should be posting more as Anonymous)

Sad news: Mediafire burnt up again and gives the "account suspended"-notice :'(

I think we need encrypted rar-part-files for uploading to mediafire (with encrypted filenames). I don't know if mediafire or someone else scans through this site here already, but somehow they are able to detect the files :(

@admin: You are awesome :) Keep up your good work :)!!!
21/05/2012 10:06 — admin
If they're scanning here (very unlikely) or some agency is simply reporting new links posted here (somewhat doubtful as this website gets relatively low traffic) then unfortunately nothing can be done to prevent the account being suspended.

I'm looking into wrapping files into an archive, but as the upload script is fairly heavily optimised, I need to be able to write some sort of on-the-fly wrapper for it to work. I've been shifting code around the place lately to make it a bit easier to integrate, but this sort of thing will take a while to code.
I'll have to resort to creating new accounts every so often for now.

New: About every third MF link sets off Norton Internet Security intercept/block for a known malicious website warning on my pc.  Using FDM (Free Download Manager) I get the link and download the file while my browser is blocked by Norton from landing on the malicious web page.  Then I click the Norton button to not proceed to this web page.
22/05/2012 04:34 — aniluv
I am using FDM as well. NO issue for MF link on my end. Anyone else have this problem?
22/05/2012 09:15 — admin
Could be a number of issues, including ads that they serve (some cause malicious triggers) or perhaps adware or something else installed on your machine.
Does this happen with Mediafire links elsewhere?
22/05/2012 21:04 — Anonymous: "furriesftw"
I use JDownloader and firefox with AdblockPlus+NoScript installed and properly configured. No problems here :)
btw: Norton Internet Security is junk....go and install something else.

I usually just set JDownloader to collect all links i copy to the clipboard and that's exactly what I do - open up the download-site here, select source-code-view in firefox, copypaste the mediafire links, close the window and let JDownloader take care of the rest :)

[HorribleSubs] Saint Seiya Omega - 08 [1080p].mkv <= Mediafire says something about "Verify Download" and I have to type in a recaptcha. If I remember correctly the last time I had to type a captcha at Mediafire, the account here got suspended the next day or so... Maybe it's a bad sign again :( Hope it doesn't happen again.

One feature-request: Please make the search on this site compatible with CRC32-checksums so I can easily just type in the CRC32-checksum and find the file (even if the CRC32-checksum isn't noted in the filename). It would be even better if you could add the CRC32-checksum to every filename where it isn't already added (for example with the HorribleSubs-releases).

As always: Keep up your good work :)
24/05/2012 08:28 — admin
I think Mediafire just puts up CAPTCHAs when it thinks you may be a bot, or your IP is indicative of it (eg your IP requesting a lot of files in a short period of time, or is a known proxy etc).
Hopefully I'm right.

I don't want to mess with filenames (although some hosts do it anyway), but people have requested searching by hash before. I've been thinking about revamping the search system with a fulltext indexer some time, but have to find the time to get around to it.

Thanks for the comment.
