Currently the RSS sends out most entries twice, once with a link to feed.animetosho.org and once with animetosho.org.
26/10/2019 12:54 — admin
Thanks for the report. Could you give some examples?
I noticed that I messed up the IDs of entries, which may have caused readers to duplicate items (though I can't see any duplicates in the feeds themselves). I've 'fixed' the IDs, but this may cause readers to triplicate entries. If this is the case for you, try removing the feed from your reader, and re-adding it.

https://feed.animetosho.org/view/a324663 was the last feed URL I got 20 hours ago so I guess it is fixed :) Thanks for the service!

Can you add more dark themes there are too many light ones bad for eyes if your in a room with no light
28/10/2019 19:58 — Anonymous
Provide an example of the color scheme you're looking for, then use it.
28/10/2019 23:04 — Anonymous
2016q1 - Hotaru

It's both dark and purple. So best combo.
04/11/2019 10:15 — admin
There's 8 of each, so I'm not sure about having too many light themes...

(the best thing for your eyes is to have the light on)

Would it be possible for you to fetch only the Subs for this...?
https://animetosho.org/view/bluelobste...p.n1188942

29/10/2019 21:19 — Anonymous
No.  There are no separate external ass files to fetch.  They would have to be extracted from the mkvs.
01/11/2019 07:49 — Anonymous
Rip openload. You will be missed.
01/11/2019 18:57 — Anonymous
Ahh so they have been notified. It's good to know the admins have been notified.  Preventing the system from trying to upload anymore files asap would be a good idea.

    R.I.P. OpenLoad

They must have really gone the extra mile to become DMCA target.  This sucks big time, Openload, would re-encode every file before they streamed them. Basically they created Raw-files of everything and that saved me from needing to do it

if there's another hoster that flips files back to raw AVC8bit and preserves resolution settings(ie.1280x720=1280x720)  Please consider adding it as the replacement to the recently decapitated Openload.
Thanks

Too awfully bad :(
Many file-hosting sites come and go but some persist and become indispensable. OpenLoad was one of them ?
It's a huge loss to the whole world of sailors since OpenLoad is irreplaceable. It's unbearably sad that OL was shut down by that god-damn Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) and alllll those files are now gone ( -_- )

R.I.P. OpenLoad ?

Generally the popular services become the biggest targets. One should always be suspicious of popular hosts/sites and the like, because there's a strong chance of it not lasting.
Unfortunately, much of the internet folk congregate to popular sites, which, ironically, often leads to their downfall.
04/11/2019 16:06 — Anonymous
ACE looks like American media companies so I'd guess anime is collateral damage?

Popular services are so for reasons.  It will be interesting to see if the ddl river runs dry or renews by moving bases to Asia.  It has to be somewhere that can stand being squeezed by the west.

OT but how does formatting work here like quoting, italics etc. I never get it right here.
04/11/2019 20:21 — Anonymous
Do you mean for search?  There's some info in the faq.
05/11/2019 09:00 — Anonymous
No like in comment box. On nyaa you use markdown but using the same here doesn't work. I have seen admin, ramen and some others format their comments here hence i was wondering how to do it.

HTML. You use <> instead of []

Generally the popular services become the biggest targets.
That's right.
Unfortunately many sites have been rendered useless since Openload was the only file hosting site they were using.

However this new round of pressure against streaming sites, one of the most popular of them being Openload, is due to the fact that Apple, Disney and some ISPs are entering streaming market joining Netflix and others. It seems streaming services are becoming their newest cash cow and they're trying to make as much profit as they can by ruthlessly targeting and eliminating streaming sites like OL, Streamango, Streamcherry and Verystream via their evil arm ACE.
Although many were using Openload to download files from and weren't using its streaming feature.
11/11/2019 23:18 — Anonymous
If streaming is their primary target, that could be good news for those of us who ddl.

Is there some sort of authentication block that requires username/password to download a torrent?  Asking because I can download anything to my PC, but am having difficulty downloading to my seedbox which I prefer for speed and to pay it forward.
03/11/2019 03:11 — Anonymous
Nyaa requires nothing.  I assume the name/password are those of your seedbox account.

If you're not using Transmission Qt Client, it may work better with your seedbox.
04/11/2019 10:16 — admin
If the Nyaa download link won't work, you can also try the Torrent link given here, which is mirrored off Nyaa.
Alternatively, you can download the torrent file and upload it to the seedbox.
05/11/2019 21:07 — Anonymous
there seems to be a 10-11 hour delay on RSS feeds set from search results, RSS feed from the homepage shows the latest episode posted

Could you guys add a filter for english dub?
06/11/2019 20:18 — Anonymous
Do you want to see the dub listings or not see the dub listings?

Either way, there is no categorical info on sub/dub included in Nyaa listings as far as I know, so it will have to rely on search terms and be subject to errors.  You can figure out and use search terms yourself to match your taste already (like also Dual Audio, no dual audio, etc.)

Personally, I hate to miss something good due to filtering.

Anyone else find that uppit links always lead to a page saying:
"404. That's an error.

The requested URL was not found on this server." ?
09/11/2019 17:38 — Anonymous
I randomly tried the following for jheberg/uppit and it started a download:

https://animetosho.org/file/cutey-hone...ual.663598

Can you give an example?  How old, how new?  And some countries are now excluded from some ddl services.
11/11/2019 01:55 — Anonymous
All of them are generally new. Maybe it's a country block?
For example all these are error 404s for me:
http://uppit.com/horriblesubs-africa-n...6-720p.mkv
http://uppit.com/neko-raws-dr.-stone-1...f7b65b.mkv
http://uppit.com/horriblesubs-boruto-n...2-720p.mkv
11/11/2019 02:55 — Anonymous
Horrible's African Salaryman:

for me, 720p is 404 right now but the 360p has a link:

http://uppit.com/bo3agwhxs6mv

If the 360p works for you, then it's not a country block.  It would more likely be slowness for larger files or undocumented limits.  Uppit says they last updated their Terms of Service notice in 2009 (!!) and 500MB is a common cut-point, the 720p being 599MB.
11/11/2019 07:26 — Anonymous
Yep, that works for me! Must be a size thing. I didn't think to check for files being under 500Mb.
11/11/2019 07:28 — Anonymous
Thanks!

(Not that it helped me in the end as AVG aborts my connection anyway since it believes the site is infected. -_-)
11/11/2019 13:17 — Anonymous
My testing is Uppit is not worth any further effort as it only allows 1 download at a time at a speed of 150kb/sec.  I don't think of less than 1mb/sec total for however many concurrent downloads to be acceptable these days.

However, just to mention it:

-admin can probably get around size limits by splitting files, as he does for the 500mb limits at solidfiles and zippyshare.  If we knew what the actual size limit was.

-you can probably get around malicious sites by copying links to a download manager like Internet Download Manager.  That way your browser never visits the site and download managers can't be infected.  I say "probably", because it depends on how the site is set up.

12/11/2019 18:47 — Anonymous: "MeH"
Highly likely that AVG of yours is wrong and that's a false positive. Here's the VirusTotal report.
And we've talked about malvertising and one of your online security's best friends, uBlock Origin, before!
11/11/2019 15:05 — Anonymous
This link of 86MB works for me, but FYI maximum file size of UppIT is 1GB.
11/11/2019 15:33 — Anonymous
You can believe what works, not what you are told. What they say is often not true.
11/11/2019 15:58 — Anonymous
btw, I don't know what 86mb link you're referring to.  Hopefully not the 360p Horrible Africa Salary-one which should be about a 250mb mkv.
11/11/2019 18:20 — Anonymous
http://uppit.com/bo3agwhxs6mv
which is 'horriblesubs-africa-no-salaryman-06-360p.mkv' with a size of 86.1 MB.
11/11/2019 18:37 — Anonymous
https://animetosho.org/view/horriblesu...kv.1385629

See for yourself on the AT page.  Or look at Horrible's website.
11/11/2019 19:34 — Anonymous
It seems the only 360p videos on AT are from Horrible and all are around 250 MB. Well I didn't know that since I only watch 720p and sometimes 1080p and all other 360p anime on many anime websites are around 90 MB.
11/11/2019 19:49 — Anonymous
Sites which offer certain size files are offering a service and looking for traffic to their site, not to torrent.  And Nyaa wouldn't be very welcoming anyways.

And so here we are.
11/11/2019 19:32 — Anonymous
As you probably know, some places do a re-encode to shrink media files.  Explore the file yourself if you like.

There are ways to avoid this, but uppit isn't worth further thought due to their limits, as far as I'm concerned.  And the AVG and Norton warnings.

If you find something called "Zeus" don't worry about it as there is nothing that can be done.

11/11/2019 18:23 — Anonymous
Are u kidding me?!
No 360p episode of anime is 250 MB. 250 MB is too much for 360p. Good quality 720p episodes can be 200-300 MB.
11/11/2019 18:39 — Anonymous
I always admired how from the beginning they put "Horrible" in the name to avoid complaints.
11/11/2019 15:02 — Anonymous
These give error "The requested URL was not found on this server." to me too.
09/11/2019 20:50 *troleybus
Can we get more screenshots for future episodes? right now it's only 5 would be nice if there are more of them
09/11/2019 21:16 — Anonymous
This was recently asked and answered: it's uncompressed images and admin pays for storage.

Don't be greedy.
10/11/2019 00:06 — admin
Weren't you using aniSearch for that?
10/11/2019 23:03 — troleybus
doh my bad just curious for a shortcut instead of alternative search
13/11/2019 11:36 *admin
You can try asking AniDB to add aniSearch as a resource site, for anime entries. If it happens, we could pull a link from that.
