Admin, just asking, should we need to inform you about suspended MF account?

Well, I know that no one can solve that problem and maybe you know about this already, but I thought at least someone have to tell you when this happens.
This is because of what happens now. Files that you uploaded to MF (since yesterday I think) can't be downloaded because of this suspended thing.
22/06/2012 09:47 — admin
Well, there'll be people posting about it regardless, so I'll just create a new account if I see it, or I get an email from MF about suspended account, whatever happens first.

Thanks for your thoughts though.

Mediafire suspends accounts but have they IP banned for constantly coming back?
23/06/2012 11:03 — admin
It's interesting that they haven't, but I suppose if accounts aren't being created too frequently, they won't bother.
Current account lasted just under 2 days, but previous ones lasted over a week.

I think I have some better understanding of how these things work now though. I don't think file names or file content is an issue, so I'll remove the annoying archive wrapping for Mediafire.
I do happen to know that the previous account was suspended because a bunch of links from another site got reported (and they copy some links from here). I don't know about previous suspensions though, as the law enforcement agency just typically dumps a bunch of links (that they think are infringing - they don't actually check all of them) to Mediafire, and they just suspend files/accounts that exist in the list.

I don't like it, but link protection (DLC?) may be necessary. I've got another idea I'll try first though.
23/06/2012 04:35 — Anonymous
Yeah, coz I thought you already replaced with new one, because they're already suspended.

well, I would certainly appreciate if MF links can be maintained, but I feel bad for admin having to creating new accounts and re-uploading files all the time. And guess what, weeks (or, god forbids, days) later, they may get deleted again!

If it wasn't for the good download speed I would say that MF sucks, because it is. It treats uploaders and downloaders like crap.

I'm glad that admin has now add other easy-to-download hosts such as Peejeshare, so we don't have to rely on MF all the time. Personally, I use Peejeshare, Filefactory, Depositfiles, Chauthanh and MF.

My message here is: People! Try out other hosts, for god sake, you may discover your new favorite hosting site!

@admin: yeah, we know it's tough, MF deletes people's accounts all the time, it's MF's fault for its own awful service. Don't let it upset you too much. We understand and feel for you. Thanks for your efforts :)
23/06/2012 06:10 — Anonymous
Well obviously it's not like we didn't try, for god sake.

One of the reasons we depends on MF because of speed, because other hosts like Chauthanh is too slow at certain area (~10-50KBps in my area) when MF could give somewhere around 10-12MBps (MBps, mind you, not KBps). Not all people can't reach good speed with Chauthanh compare to MF.
Also, I can queue also with MF, and dload 8-10 of files simultaneously, other hosts can't do that. I also can save MF link to my account to secure the file first if I can't dload at that time.
And of course, premium crap like Filefactory/Depositfiles/Bayfiles and other same kind of host IS crap. Capped speed, download manager not supported, stupid long waiting time, limited files/day etc etc, when it's not premium. Not all of us are rich, and we didn't have all of these issues with MF, and its FREE.

I agree for Peejeshare, only host I think that nearly on par with MF is this host, thanks for that admin. Good speed actually, but sometimes can't dload because of slot limit (need to wait), and can't queue much. But it's better than nothing.

Thanks for the comment though.

hmm, I know it can be frustrating with free download prom premium hosting sites, but you can try leeching it though :)

try Altervis's suggestion in the comment below, I think it's great and very generous of him to share :)

There are other leeching sites of course, which you can search for on Google. I hope that helps. Good luck.
23/06/2012 12:43 — Anonymous
Yeah, forgot to mention before that I've 'used to' leached a lot of premium sites before, but didn't use them now because of personal reason. Visited frequent site like premiumlinkgens.blogspot.com, leech.gopro4vn.com, a few FB page (forgot their page name) but I doubt they're regularly update now like they're used to.

I still secured a few premium account though, such as RS or Fileserve and their sister host site, but ATosho rarely upload to that host recently (not that I hope they do), so I stuck with Peeje / MF.

Oh, and I've also use add-on like skipscreen (to skip waiting times for various sites) before, didn't bother them now as I don't actually prefer premium host now.
23/06/2012 07:49 *Altervis
why don't you try leecher? when i got MF suspended and Peejeshare out of slot, i use this:
http://freepremium.us/

whichever i try it, all is working fine, i won't say all of them are work cuz i'm not test all of them yet.
but it's worth to try, at least for me :D

free user download are sucks, but pay for temporary unlimited download is even more sucks, that's what i think -__-
23/06/2012 10:12 — Anonymous: "lukin4anime"
thanks for sharing, man. Great stuffs :D
23/06/2012 11:20 — Altervis
Naah.. sharing is the purpose we gather here, don't montion it friends :D

Regarding MF issue, I have a few (stupid / noob / so-so / good) suggestion depends on what admin think. :D

For website:-

1. Only registered user can see the download link (sorry, but it was proved by lots of MF sharing site out there). Add captcha at the register page and/or activation link to prevent bots.

2. Try to remove AnimeTosho from top 100 results for any popular keyword (anime download, mediafire download etc) in Google / Yahoo / any search engine.

3. Change the default language to something beside popular ones (English afaik). For example Chinese, Vietnam etc, unicode lang is recommended. (again sorry for this, because from my experience I see a lot of sites using language beside English that actually survived from suspended MF issues, and I'm not Chinese / Vietnam). Registered user can change this to English from the page though.

Well I know that those suggestions kills AnimeTosho purpose for easy sharing, but it's not that anyone lose their freedom to download. Also, most DDL site that I know tends to do this.

Anyway, thanks for reading and considering this suggestion. :)
24/06/2012 12:57 *admin
Thanks a lot for the suggestions.
Unfortunately they don't solve the problem with other sites' links being taken down. I know the last time was because of this, though I don't know whether this is the case all the time.

I don't think we're significant enough to really attract attention yet.

Random thought that popped into my head: I wonder if some lame Javascript hiding trick would be effective enough to make it annoying enough to copy links. Use Javascript to force MF links to open in a new window without an address bar. Easy to break, but maybe the low-paid worker reporting links might not know. Will make life more annoying for those who copy links into a downloader, maybe...

umm... guys i know it's out of topic to discuss this now, but..
i'm damn bored here ( ̄◇ ̄;) can anyone recommend a good anime? sci-fi, or adventure is okay, as long as it has comedy :D
28/06/2012 14:37 — Blueberry

(umm.. did you notice? peejeeshare is slowly gone.. or is it my mistake?)
30/06/2012 23:35 — admin
They still get uploaded to, but they're failing very often (largely getting disk space full errors).
I kind of do wonder how well they maintain their systems...
01/07/2012 08:12 *Altervis
aah~ that's a pity, now we should rely on mediafire again..
yeah me too, maybe they maintain it while watching anime from this site :D
02/07/2012 05:56 — Blueberry

What's wrong with TokyoTosho?
It's slow as fuck.
29/06/2012 20:40 — S2_
Hiiiiiii.... this site is excellent... do u have an IRC channel?
29/06/2012 23:58 — admin
I haven't set anything up of the sorts.
02/07/2012 00:23 — aniluv
Pardon me for asking, but is peerjeshare dropped?
02/07/2012 10:46 — admin
No (see above) but they may as well be as there's rarely ever a successful upload.
Do a search for Peejeshare on the home page - there's still some links getting made.
02/07/2012 04:57 — Anonymous
hi, thank you for every time.

please upload [Zero-Raws] anime series.
02/07/2012 15:47 — P2501
getting pretty decent speeds on jumbofiles & chauthahn with jd, too bad old links usually only have 2shared/rapidshare available.

I suggest Firefox users should use addon RefControl to prevert MF or other hosters detecting where the links come frome.
Basically it will fool MF with false referrer or no referrer at all, to reduce chance of its banning the whole site from using it, and bypass prohibition on already banned sites.

Link: http://www.stardrifter.org/refcontrol/
Simple configuration guide: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/35211112/pics...rol_MF.png

Opera has a similar feature built-in: to disable sending referrer information, hit F12 to launch the quick preference menu. Here, uncheck the option “Send Referrer Information”. But I don't suggest permanently disabling this because of protential problems.

(I heard) Chrome also has a similar addon. (But saa~, I only use Firefox)
05/07/2012 21:55 — admin
Thanks for the thought.
That may be an issue for other sites, but not here. It's one of the benefits of running over HTTPS :)

Still, setting up RefControl to forge the referrer by default, for 3rd party requests, is not a bad idea for privacy's sake.
