Admin, can you fix downloadGG? Looks like everything that was just uploaded doesn't have a file. Or downloadGG's own error?

it looks like downloads before and after that time-mark are normal.  I expect the shows you were interested in were removed for dmca.  There is no fix.
11/03/2022 04:30 — Anonymous
It's impossible to delete within seconds of uploading.
11/03/2022 16:00 — Anonymous
pre-filters are a thing now, so yes they can be instantly deleted.
13/03/2022 10:29 — admin
Haven't looked into it, but if it's for a period of time, my assumption would be that there's some issue with their server during the time, which, unfortunately, I can't do much about.

OK so I know this is going to be a total face palm for some of you here but please be nice. I love the site and have been using it for some time. I have a few titles in my personal library that are NOT available anywhere but my library. I want to share them but have absolutely no idea how to upload them. After your done screaming and throwing things at your screen, any help would be appreciated

if you mean listing on AT, it only mirrors torrents posted on Nyaa and a few other torrent sites and only those which qualify as English translated anime.  Read the About/FAQs link under the login for more info.
14/03/2022 12:54 — Anonymous
and you should be sure you understand the risk of torrents before you use them
14/03/2022 19:46 — Anonymous: "Moses"
Supposedly direct downloads are much more dangerous than torrents. Of course for beginners. The number of fake downloads. Popup ads containing malware.
14/03/2022 21:26 — Anonymous
I was referring to the legal risks.  There aren't any others, really.
14/03/2022 21:32 — Anonymous
The problem with torrents is that you're broadcasting to the world what you're doing, and torrents can contain what courts have considered proof of your identity and proof that you have violated someone's copyright.   In the US, some courts have delivered default judgements of $15,000 per such violation on such evidence.  Some lawyers have also found this an easy way to send debt collectors after people with a minimum of effort, even if you do not respond to a lawsuit.  Often they just need to send a letter offering to settle for several hundred dollars, or else.  So maybe no one will bother you, or maybe you will find you will lose your next 10 years of income.  It makes life exciting perhaps.  Given the  choice between lawyers and poison snakes, I would go with the snakes.
14/03/2022 21:57 — Anonymous
vpn's are a solution for now, assuming they don't sell you out, but they are being forced out of doing torrents in the US and maybe the EU.  With torrents you are broadcasting the vpn's id, making them a target instead.

Have you been reading the Napster wikipedia page?

The legalities are a minefield of definition, proper natural Law versus Statute, Mandate etc etc (Humans have very different rights and obligations under each variant)

Basically, The corporations made a big fuss, there was a LOT of propoganda and a major fear campaign, and maybe 2 or 3 test cases that made BIG news. As always with these things, there are far too many people using torrents to ever even notice such campaign, other than normieland like reddit EVERYONE will advice against pirating, but out here in the real world noone really pays any attention. There are far too mmany poor people that want access to media and software, and they will alway find a way, and will do so in their millions and hundreds of millions

The only real difference over the years is that sometimes there seems to be a big push where the corporations want their moniesworth from the senators and parlimentarians they paid to lobby, and a few big sites go down - and a thousands mirrors spring up with unlikely domain names (Think animetosho.cock !) And so the whackamole game ensues!

The "minefield" cuts no slack in court.

One last thing to bear in mind is that an Internet Service Provider in the US (the one who puts the internet in your home) lost a $1 billion court case from the music industry for not stopping their customers from infringing copyright.  It means you should hide your activities from your isp.  They can't afford to ignore what you may be doing.
18/03/2022 16:42 — Anonymous
"In court" ?

They have the will and resources to chase after hundreds of millions of file sharers? With ideas like yours you are surely a redditor!

And who gives a fuck about the losses of internet service providers? Fuck 'em. Again, you are surely looking for some reddit-gold dear sir?

The OP asked how stuff gets posted to AT.  That's a basic question.  They need to understand the situation.

It's funny someone calling them "Anonymous" is spouting how people don't need to protect their identity online.

Now that the OP knows the issues they can do what they please, as far as I'm concerned.

But my are you stupid.

Another one here - I think the difference in your points might be location. If there even are hundreds of millions (I mean roughly a half worldwide even has access to the net - and if you are breaking it down to torrents - just watch nyaa dl stats those are often a few, sometimes not a dozen and may up to few thousands at best so screw that possible millions).
There are countries watching for such a way more resp. at all, than in other countries where they don't give a shit even if it's illegal - yes there are such where it's even legal. Be aware -pure dl as here at AT is basically never a problem. But with torrents you (also) do upload (in your case even intentionally - purely).
So I would base the decision on how it's done in the country - also if you might ever want to travel/live there. Second I still would use a VPN - and if it's just against profile scrapping for your next employer. Third - inform yourself about clients today. Fourth (choose where to upload - at scraps multiple sources - some might be less of a target).
19/03/2022 12:13 — Anonymous
Going by the OP's nick it's ireland. https://www.reddit.com/r/ireland/comme...nloads_in/ (also check link in there), https://goosed.ie/news/tech-news/happe...-torrents/ (read reddit for sued examples) - https://beencrypted.com/privacy/torren...orrenting/ (also some tipps against - except vpns f.e. also known bad ips).

Usually downloading will in near all cases be no problems, but there always bad examples where you get sued. With uploading you're even more on the spot. So yeah, if you want to be on safe side, take measures else ... gamble.
19/03/2022 19:16 — Anonymous
no way! A literal reddotor. An actual literal link to rediit!

DO NOT ASK REDDIT FOR ADVICE ABOUT FILE SHARING

jeezus

19/03/2022 19:19 — Anonymous
All filesharing banned, all filehosts gone, all torrents down

We did it rediit! :)
19/03/2022 19:37 — Anonymous
Do not ask reddit for advice about anything. It is utterly pozzed. I mean it's fine if your a total normie that wants to talk about your latest funkopop purchase but other than that it's just another propoganda hub. JUst try and go against their narratives (basic normie MSM viewpoints on everything) and see how fast your post gets deleted, try it again and see your account banned. (((Gillaine Maxwell))) was a reddit 'super-mod' for fucksake
19/03/2022 20:24 — Anonymous
I torrent when I can't get it any other way. I never torrent recent stuff, and I always block all IPs in all the english speaking countries. I've never had even a warning in 20 years. Just my 1.5 cents.
19/03/2022 21:11 — Anonymous
Wait - so you are saying all that included there is wrong - so torrenting in IRL must be HEAVILY monitored and sued. The information you can take from https://iknowwhatyoudownload.com/ is - idk not matching with that info. And generally a reddit link is all one could take from that comment? Simply WOW!
20/03/2022 12:07 — Anonymous: "anon"
"but there always bad examples where you get sued." That is probably what the guy meant about reddit. It reads like a vague threat, classic plebbit. The feds haven't got the manpower to chase after file-sharing, like the guy said, every now and then they take down a massive website like piratebay.

If you get targeted for file-sharing then you really pissed someone off, and they're using that as an excuse to hassle you, and even then the case would be dropped due to it being totally obvious some fed is picking on you. Like hundreds of millions of fileshares per day and all of a sudden they pick on some random guy? Come on! Everything else is reddit fail and urban myths and ghost stories about that one guy that got a gazillion dollar fine for downloading from limewire.

I mean, seriously, you guys talk as if you consider fact checkers websites a valid arbiter of truth.
22/03/2022 18:59 — Anonymous
The point you do mix up here is the difference in dl. vs. uploading. On dl. in rarest cases you'll reach some copyright trolls and depends on your reaction if you fall for it. Original upload is another thing and here also rare. But if someone rly wants to get you and has the evidence that you did illegally provide that content - that's another story. It depends on many things like the type of content, the company behind (their size/philosophy,...), locations (both you/them), the amount, ... See all the filehosters and warez sites (often by one or a few friends) taken down and sued. EMPRESS/C0000005 (why do you think other groups take care - he was plain stupid not to, said so himself). The list goes on and on.

Then again I once (~2years ago) take a look on the ips of a torrent, near 30 users, except 2 all did use an ip I could relate to a vpn service or seedbox provider. Sure was a special case as I doubt to be the regular - esp on downloaders. It might explain the 31% useage https://dataprot.net/statistics/vpn-statistics/ (though i still doubt that, but who knows. Business use is def. included there too).
Anyway - all I did want to say: it can happen if you do provide and very few measures to prepare wont hurt - do they?
16/03/2022 18:03 — Anonymous: "Anon"
You can do it via BitTorrent or via file hosting sites.
You can directly upload files from your system to several hosts via MirrorAce or MultiUp.
17/03/2022 20:20 — Anonymous
A very simple way to do such a thing is via a blog with some details of your ups, and a link to the DL, All of this can be done anonymously, and there would be like a 1 in a billion chance that any federal agencie is gonna go enemy of the state on your ass.

Just start a blog, make some anon email to use for starting accounts with the filehosts. You can use the filehosts that you see here on AT, or just google, there are hundreds!

Also, if you have releases for shows here that have limited or zero availability then dropping a link to your up on the pages here would be welcome.

And lastly, thank you for your interest in sharing, there is an instinctive urge to share good stuff I think, it is in fact what really made the internet become popular in the first place
20/03/2022 12:31 — Anonymous
This is the correct answer. and you can even make your blog look nice with pictures from the anime you upload. Thats the way to go if your just wanting to share some rare finds. There are tons of nice music bloggers that I vist, sharers of rare old vinyl rips. Just treat your blog like a hobby and don't try to make money from it.

Why on Earth is someone on the comments of a website that features links to file shared content arguing against file sharing?
18/03/2022 19:18 — Anonymous
I've noticed a lot of contrarians when reading the comments on here, either they are just trolling or actual genuine autists
18/03/2022 19:32 — Anonymous
I'm inclined to believe most frequent commenters here have some form of autism

19/03/2022 22:00 — Anonymous
Yeah - I do see how that relates to a redesign - not. Btt  -
I would love to see a redesign of the page - it has been discussed a few times. It's def. causing a lot of efforts esp. when you are not into the web-topic per se. Reading into what's state of the art etc. And thinking of the future have guaranteed yet easy upgrades - not an easy choice. Of course users would benefit and probably on security rating itself on google and likes the page itself. So if possible a change might be inevitable, else prob thinking how to inherit this site. But as long as it fits keep up the good work!

A rewrite of the front end been on the things-to-do list for a while. It's mostly just getting the time / priority management for me.
However, if you're willing to help, you could start writing something. Database dumps are available to give an idea of the type of data you'll be able to query.
20/03/2022 12:17 — Anonymous: "anon"
Please don't mess with the website, ignore the idiots who ask for a redesign - They are probably newbs who haven't been coming here long enough to develop an affection for the tosho and it's funny old clunky retro style.

Why do I get the feeling that the ppl blaming reddit on this page are those probably using it the most? Like i am only there when I really need something - few times a year - and not in my lifetime would I think of accusing someone here to search to have any relation on seeking reddit-gold. Maybe I don't get that wright - would that even work posting on other sites? Idk but this seems like some real serious obsession to me, like what? How? Did you even think of s.t. like that?
19/03/2022 22:21 — Anonymous
What's reddit? I mean, I'm vaguely aware of it's existence, but I've no idea what it is. By definition, it can't be necessary to download stuff, because I download loads, but I've never used it. I kinda get the same feeling about it as the pirate bay - apparently that's popular still, but I've never used that either! I wish bakabt was still available to use. I bet there's tons of good stuff I've never heard of on there, but it sunk into the hidee hole years ago. If this site goes down I'll probably give up downloading. I can't be bothered to find another safe place, and I've already got more than I could watch in ten years, by which time we'll all be dead or slaves anyway.

Happy Nowruz (Persian New Year)!

Nowruz marks the very first day of spring and is celebrated on the day of the astronomical vernal equinox, which usually occurs on 20 or 21 March.
Nowruz, also known as Persian New Year, has been observed for more than 3,000 years as the victory of spring over darkness.

Happy Nowruz ;)

Would you consider adding non-english releases without ddl, just the torrent? I'm using exclusively animetosho with medusa since nyaa. anidex and tokyotosho start limiting you as soon as you send too many requests(nyaa actually banned my ip like 2 months ago) and I'd be a great improvement if those releases were included here. Thanks and I'm loving this project!!!
25/03/2022 01:51 — Anonymous
as on Nyaa, you can't mix eng-trans and non-eng-trans listings --too confusing.  So it might as well be another website.  And I doubt how popular a subject to be worth the trouble.
27/03/2022 12:03 — admin
Thanks for the suggestion.
The idea has crossed my mind in the past, though I feel it's somewhat out of scope for this project, so would have to be implemented as a separate thing.
I'm not prepared to take it on at the moment, as I feel I'm already juggling too many things, but as it wouldn't be tied to AT, someone else could easily take this on. If someone does decide to do so, I may be able to provide assistance.

Note that AT does also have limits, though I try to be generous. Resources aren't infinite, so if there ends up being too much load, limits will need to be tightened to mitigate it.
31/03/2022 05:47 — Anonymous
how frequent are you even requesting? I set an rss feed from nyaa on my torrent client to every 10 min and it's usually more than enough, never got banned. Another option would be to host a local server which fetches nyaa for a set of interval then create a script to filter it out.

I assumed you know a programming language or some sort.

Is there some way to view all related stuff of a series (season/special/movie/...)?
It's quite disturbing and chaotic to follow the the prequel/sequel links.
A better approach would probably be to list them all, while highlighting the current one.
In case of too much seasons simply show ... 3? entries before/after and hide the rest spoiler-like by default.
07/04/2022 12:41 — admin
You could try the AniDB link and view the Relation Graph there to see a graphical view of the whole thing. AniDB IDs are directly usable as series IDs here.

Hope that helps.
07/04/2022 15:54 — Anonymous
Well, that and other methods I already do use. Just that it still requires to visit other sites, navigate there and come back here.
I don't really know the effort behind such a feature. At last it would be great to be noted as todo for a redesign (if any might be done in the future).
10/04/2022 11:53 — admin
Thanks for the suggestion.
I mostly don't want to make this place too info heavy, since there are other sites which will do the job better. But I can put it on the 'to think about' list I guess.
