Instead of just red if an upload fails, how about red and a strike through, there will always be people who get confused but maybe it will lower the percentage over the years.

On a side note out of pure curiosity, do you break even through all the download points you accumulate from the file hosting services?  I am just hoping this site helps pay for itself down the road as I wish for its longevity.

*brain fart* Why did I never think of using a strike-through? Thanks for that - done!

Files aren't uploaded to accounts, so no points get accumulated. There's a few reasons for this:
- most hosts limit the amount of storage space for accounts; whereas if you don't have an account, there's no limit
- reduce server bandwidth usage by using multi file uploaders (e.g. EmbedUpload); though I'm aware that some support uploading to an account
- reduce the likeliness of mass file deletion by the host - if it's all uploaded to the same account, deleting all files uploaded by the user becomes trivial
- payout from those host loyalty programs probably isn't worth the effort

As for costs, there really isn't too much. There's two main components to this website: an updater script (which pulls torrents and uploads them etc) and the front-end website script.
The update script is unlikely going to need more resources any time soon (I guess in the future, people may submit more stuff, but that'll probably take time), and even if it does, I can simply be a little more restrictive in what gets fetched (e.g. not fetch any torrent over 8GB).
The front-end website, if it gets much more popular, could need more resources, but it's fairly well optimised, and there's plenty of room for growth and further optimisation, so I'm doubting that'll be any time soon. By the way, I'm also being cheapskate in a number of places, for example, screenshots are hosted on free image hosts and don't consume any of my bandwidth XD

So thanks for wishing that this site stay around - I'm hoping so too, after all, I spent many months coding this and I'd hate to see it wasted. The servers + domain etc are quite cheap, and as long as I'm willing to fork out for them every month, things should be fine. If it comes down to it, I may have to resort to putting up ads to cover costs (which, considering how optimised the site is, should have no problems doing so) but I don't see that happening any time soon (plus I hate ads myself).
As for other aspects, I'd say the biggest risks may be:
- TokyoTosho goes away
- File hosts either disappear or make automated uploading very difficult (i.e. require a CAPTCHA to be filled in every time you upload something)
- Some other major change in sites that this script depends on

In the end, costs probably aren't too much of a threat to the lifetime of this website.

Thank you for all the amazing uploads, AnimeTosho.
BTW, there is some uploads where you didn't provide MF links. For example, Fate/Zero Ep 2 by UTW. Your time will be much appreciated if you upload it to MF. Sorry but the only file hosting service that fast and available in my country(malaysia) is MF. Other service like MU is blocked.

Thank you.

Unfortunately, MediaFire is a great host to download from for free, but it sucks for uploading to, at least from the server.
I typically only get around 200KB/s upload speeds to MF, from the server, which means that it can take a while for stuff to be sent there. The file you mention (as well as all the other recently commented ones) are in the queue; at the time of writing, there's 87 files stuck in the upload queue, so give it some time to process. It seems that there's an unusually high number of files submitted today, which is probably contributing to the issue.

I may be able to increase MF upload speeds by using multiple servers, but unfortunately I'm on a tight budget.
The other thing I've noted about MF is that it seems to have a relatively high failure rate (that is, it spits errors when I try to upload there) - I've got some measures to try to lessen the impact, but I can't fully get away from it.

I wish I could help you more, but this is all that I can do for now. All I can say is either wait for it, or ask someone else to mirror the file.
There usually aren't so many files posted in one day, so I'm hoping things go back to normal soon.

Thanks for the feedback. At least I know the files are being uploaded as we speak. From my point of view, 87 x 200mb = 17gb of files.
For downloading a 200mb file with a speed of average 100kbps is 30min. Uploading a 200mb file with speed of 200kbps is 15min.
87 files x 15min = 21.75 hours.
That's about a day. That's one SUPER LONG queue.
Well never mind. It's not like the its the end of the world.
Thanks for your time, Admin.

Unfortunately, it's a bit more problematic than that. ~16 minutes for 200MB is about average IF there are no errors. But MF likes to throw errors now and then (like dropping the connection for no particular reason) so the script does retry uploading; it usually works after one retry.
Also, the average file size is closer to 300MB than 200MB.

I've put recently mentioned files at the front of the queue, so they should be processed sooner. Hopefully that helps you, though it won't solve the global issue of MF being slow at the moment.

This is such an amazing site for anime downloads. I wish have found u sooner. U just made downloading a whole lot easier. This brings us to a new level eh? Haha. That said, Thanks!

:)

New level? I'm ready to take it on!

Hi

I have a question. Have you stopped uploading files to mediafire? I have looked for the latest episode of Hunter x Hunter (2), Phi Brain (2)and Ben to (1) and  ALL versions of these do NOT have the anime uploaded onto Mediafire. The fact that you guys had these on mediafire is the ONLY reason I was using your website. Links on servers like megaupload, hotfile and fileserve are a dime a dozen and don't work on my internet connection T_T
10/10/2011 07:23 — admin
I've put those mentioned episodes at the front of the upload queue, so hopefully they get processed sooner than later.

Thank you. Its greatly appreciated :)

Never mind... Just found your reply to austinjklim... Will wait another day (I have waited 24 hours already :))

Thanks for including Hi10 Anime group's re-encoded versions. Would appreciate if you included more groups like this. Their small file sizes are sure win if we want to keep the files in our hard drives for a long time. Again, thanks!
10/10/2011 07:25 — admin
This mirrors files posted on TokyoTosho, so if groups decide to do similar things to Hi10, and they post it to the Anime section of TT, it'll probably appear here.

i want Mediafire link please .
Megaupload was blocked in Malaysia ='(
14/10/2011 11:36 — austinjklim
same bro... hate the government for blocking a lot of famous file hosting service... missed MU
14/10/2011 11:40 — admin
Is it the Government doing the blocking? That sounds interesting, especially since MediaFire is quite well known.
I'm in no such country so I have absolutely no idea about file host blocking. My guess is that it would probably be more likely that the file host itself does the blocking (possibly because they can't earn ad revenue in your country?).

i have changed the dns, and i can open the bloked site =)
thanks for uplaoding to mediafire (=

You added fileserve only in embedupload, but it's the best, is it okay for your server and other related things to enable it for future releases ?
10/10/2011 21:00 — admin
I intend to re-enable it in the future. At the moment, it's causing some severely long delays with everything else - in fact the upload queue has been growing because of it. Now that it's disabled, finally the queue has become shorter.

I can't say exactly what's making it slow - all I can see from logs is that it's sometimes taking absurdly long to upload a file. I'll see what I can do to resolve the issue.
10/10/2011 16:55 — Anonymous
Will wait for MF link
11/10/2011 15:50 — aniluv
Hi, i was wondering why didnt bluray releases that appeared in cat 1 TT was not found on this site. To be more specific would be Doki's Angel Beat(720p Hi10p) and Coalgirls' To aru majutsu no Index II(720). If possible can u upload them?
11/10/2011 21:28 — admin
It doesn't take all files at the moment unfortunately.
Due to limited server bandwidth, I'm currently skipping batch files - this includes files in the Anime category that looks like a batch.
It does take anything under 1.5GB though, and will skip anything that's obsessively large (like >12GB).

Ideally I'd do these in the future, but that will depend on whether I can finance another server for processing. Hope this answer helps.
12/10/2011 00:25 — aniluv
That's a pity. Guess i'll have to torrent them slowly. Thanks anyway =)
12/10/2011 10:26 — austinjklim
So you're saying that Doki's Angel Beats! 1080p 10 bit batches are not going to be posted? Guess i have to torrent / find MF links manually.
