animetosho closing down is yet another nail in the coffin of the web as it was supposed to be.

By that I mean the Internet before it was monetized and optimized for smartphones. Back when retards like us made stuff on the net because it was fun and for why not. Media being shared in the same spirit as you'd lend a vid or cd to a friend

This site, like the spirit of the old internet, will be sorely missed

No, he means groups of hobbyists and fans, writing blogs and sharing their ideas and information and expertise. Making money from the web didn't even occur to anyone back then. And if for instance you were into fishing, or golf or whatever, a search engine would bring up hobbyist blogs, that almost always would have decent information, as they were simply sharing what they knew. No one was copying each other as there was no point to duplicating another's blog as there was no money to be gained from clicks.

People's websites, pages and blogs often had links to the stuff they were interested in, they had no reason to keep you tied to their site, thus was the phenomena of "Surfing the net" just following links that bloggers and so on thought were cool enough to share.

If you were around then you'd get it, the only people who need this explained to them are zoomers and people who got into the web after smartphones and social media.

regardless

adios to animetosho, you will be missed

Any alternative sites that focus on torrents and not usenet?
06/05/2026 10:03 — Anonymous: "too short"
nyaa .si?
06/05/2026 12:06 — Gjyukyu
Well, yeah, but I was wondering if there are more.

There also those who re-upload SubsPlease's content without using SubsPlease name, which makes difficult to find on Google.

I prefer like SubsPlease, erai, toonshub, varyg, without re-encoding or hardsubbing.

My apologies to all who may have been offended by my drunk posting last night.

Since I can't use torrents and can only DDL, I really hope an alternative or successor DDL site to Anime Tosho will appear.

Thanks for maintaining this website.

so, will the anime on NZBPlanet go away when this site goes down?
06/05/2026 19:37 — Anonymous: "Anon3"
Unless someone else is mirroring the content to newsgroups. Aninzb has started, hopefully it will continue.
06/05/2026 19:52 — Anonymous: "Anon"
As soon as this site loads it redirects. I wouldn't go there for now
06/05/2026 19:53 — Anonymous: "Anon"
That should have been in response to AniDL

It's not worth giving a shot.
Other sites that have been introduced so far also have quality problems.
Their videos are like... unnecessary large because of noise or too small to have decent quality.
Encoder problems? not sure.
Subsplease and Erai-raws are safer choice IMO. (I prefer HEVC to H264 if file size is kind of same though)

I can't DDL from kayoanime.
Are there any prerequisites for performing DDL operations?
07/05/2026 04:54 — Anonymous
I don't think you need to do anything, they upload to google drive, just click on one of their links and you're good to go. Unless you hit a daily quota limit, then you might need to come back later when the quota resets. Hope it helps.

Eh, I prefer buzzheavier since I mainly download 720p episodes (filesize under 1GB per episode) from groups like subplease and yamei

Subsplease has XDCC, it's basically direct links but you have to request it from the bots, here how's to : https://thewiki.moe/sourcing/ddl/
07/05/2026 12:09 — Anonymous: "Duh"
packlist xdcc subsplease need 5-12 hours to be displayed.

so, fork found in kitchen?
07/05/2026 13:42 — Anonymous
If you can't wait that long or can't torrent then streaming is for you.
07/05/2026 05:03 — Anonymous: "KayooyaK"
Some of their links are shared from private drive that means you need to join their team drive first before you can download. Well not all of them but I guess that's it.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

This site and all the contributers will be sorely missed. May we return to a simpler and less cynical internet one day soon.
