Wow, it's very nice that there's someone finally encodes anime in HEVC.

I have seen someone testing the HEVC encode and I quite like it with its small size while the quality didn't differ very much with x264.

Ah, forgot to ask.
I never watch ./Hack series, should I watch that too?

I'd be interested in your evaluation of motion in x265, given your past comments on 60fps (if I am recalling correctly).

I think the story line in G.U. Trilogy stands on it's own, in terms of background.

Here are the dot hack listings over at:
http://chauthanh.info/anime/browse/ALL.html

dot hack Gift
dot hack G.U. Returner
dot Hack GU Trilogy
dot hack Legend of the Twilight
dot hack Liminality
dot hack Quantum
dot hack Roots
dot hack SIGN
dot hack The Movie: Sekai no Mukou ni

Yes, you remember correctly. I doubt I can watch anime in 24fps again after used to 60fps :D

This is testing post about testing encode in x265, there is DDL link over there too if you want to try it
http://akihosenomiya.net/blog/2013/10/...-x265hevc/

IMHO, the "soap effect" in that encoding is acceptable (for me) while keeping the smoothness of motion.
Or maybe about just same with x264 encoding (in term of smoothness of course)
==============
I see, so in nutshell, it's ok for me to watch this without watching other ./hack series, correct?

Sorry for the delay, I wanted to wait until I could dl and look at the movie.  It's been a while since I've watched any dot hacks.

1. I think you need to start with dot hack roots.  This movie drops viewers into the middle of things.
2. I've played other x265 encodes, but this one chokes my rig to the point of being unwatchable.  I have played even x265-10bit that were smooth.  The x264 version is fine.

x265 may address future needs, but file size reduction is not a priority for me.  I prefer high quality playback.

Yes, I can't play it using SVP too (60fps). I have to resort with disabling it in order to watch.
Fortunately the video is 30fps, so Re-Clock can detects it. So in the end it is still smooth (even though not as smooth as 60fps), maybe I will tried with smooth option enabled in madVR. My display is 60fps, so it's integer multiplied from the video.
Oh, right. I haven't tried it with output changed to EVR-CP though, but I rather not because madVR certainly looks better.
Now this is strange though, when I clicked the link above (media info for the video), the frame rate is written 24fps, but in Explorer it's detected 29fps.

I've tried it with VLC, MPC-BE and MPC-HC (only MPC-HC is installed ). MPC-BE and MPC-HC about same (using codec from K-Lite) , while VLC is worse when playing it (of course Re-Clock doesn't support VLC).

Well, because my HDD free size has been floating around between 60-100 gb lately so I have to consider the file size :(

================
So from dot hack roots, hmm. Agh, it's 2006 anime. Gotta asking my friend whether he has it or not then.

Thanks for the information Galaxy_Defender :)

Explorer likely retrieves information via DirectShow, so there could be filters in-between.
If it's a Blu-ray source, 24fps is likely correct.
