Too many screw-ups from this source, I'd  say.

For torrents, people use them all the time.  If torrents are enabled under your isp, you're probably fine.

If you want to take additional care, use encrypted only and don't seed.  Downloading makes you a downloader and no one really cares.  Seeding makes you a distributor and that is more of an issue.

Copyright holder actually care even when you simply download. Downloading a torrent is just as dangerous as seeding it. The moment you run the torrent, your IP is visible to the swarm. Use VPN if you want to be safe.

Nobody gets dmca for just downloading, it's the distributors they want to stop. With torrents some seeding is a default. Only smart people and bums don't seed when they download.

But of course, the seedbox solution is the best, unless this is the one and only thing you want to download.

Other possibilities: use someone else's wifi. Medical centers can be very lax.

p.s. DMCA (digital millennium copyright act) is absolutely harmless if you comply with the complainant's 'request'. They ask you to remove some file, you comply and it's done. If you don't comply you could be sued, but you're fine as long as you don't ignore the request, which is why everyone does when asked.

If you're worried about torrents either get a VPN or a seedbox.

Just get a VPN it's easy and cheep these days. Plus you can avoid region restrictions for streaming sites and your IPS blocking sites like they do in Australia.
