Think I'll pass. I don't have the time to sit wait for 10bit 1080 files to be encoded to 8bit.
08/04/2013 19:03 — Anonymous
Also, there's no sound. Even after I recode to 8bit. What the hell?
08/04/2013 20:40 — A_Registered_Trademark
Although the sound codec listed in the title is AAC, the one listed in the header is the old ALS -an old lossless codec that was never popular.  You'll need to find that codec to get audio.  It's not internally supported by MPC-HC, CCCP, potplayer, kmp, or even my ancient GOM.

use VLC problem solved

Verified.  Works for me too.  A strangely logical choice.  And installing VLC shouldn't mess up your primary player set-up as long as you deselect VLC for all default audio and video associations.  You should then be able to choose it when you want it with a right mouse click menu.
08/04/2013 21:20 — Anonymous: "anonymous"
VLC is a shit video player though.

I'll wait for a better group/encode.
09/04/2013 06:10 — alpeia2
VLC is not a shit player, maybe you just don't like it for whatever reason or used an old version? Professionals have been using it for over ten years and I have been using it personally for over five years at home. It works on all O/S platforms and you don't need to install any codec pacs.

Share the love & keep watching with whatever player you like ;)

What's really amazing is that all these video players are absolutely free.  Bill Gates must be spinning in his grave...

bill gates isnt dead...

This is why I don't like 10bit videos. Especially when they're 1080 10bit videos. Whoever thought this up should be shot and hanged. So stupid.
09/04/2013 05:35 — A_Registered_Trademark
Hmm.  Would that be a fatal shooting and hung as a warning to others, or just winged by a bullet and left for a slow death on the gallows?

If you says so.

It was a joke, genius/ Get a sense of humor.
09/04/2013 07:15 — Anonymous
That was sarcasm, genius/ Get a clue.
09/04/2013 07:33 *A_Registered_Trademark
Sorry, that was my sense of humor.  Although I thought it kind of an interesting question.  I was trying to understand the strength of your objection, I suppose.  Maybe I need to get a smile emoticon to avoid misunderstandings.  Ugh.

The genius in me does wonder how you expect people to recognize the humor in your statement and yet you immediately fail to recognize the humor in my elaboration of it.  That's kind of weird.

Of course, I wouldn't believe anyone commenting in forums such as these desires actual physical harm to anyone else.  It's just a way of talking.

10 bit was released by Avid first I believe to make smaller file sizes for professional editing. I know for sure they were the first to have an 10bit codec out back around 2008.

Share the love and please don't shoot Avid.

My itch with 10bit is that converting to 8bit takes a while (widescreen episodes take about an hour or so. Fullscreen episodes take about 25-30 minutes.), and after awhile I lose interest with converting them. Probably explains why I'm losing interest in online fansubs nowadays.

Probably you should get a rig that can play 10-bit, "someone."
09/04/2013 11:52 — cool_boy_mew
I use a 6-7 years old, 500$ rig with a 5 years old 120$ graphic card and I can handle 10-bit 1080p videos....

there is no video only sound in vlc and quicktime.
14/04/2013 12:08 — admin
There's definitely video in there (you can check by clicking on the filename above, see screenshots and video info).
Make sure you have the latest version of VLC; I wouldn't be surprised if QuickTime doesn't support 10-bit H.264 (but someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Heads up everyone.

If you DL the newest version of handbrake, you CAN recode this, say to 720p, and still have sound. I just did it.
08/05/2013 12:17 — Anonymous
Why can't you buy this era s computer. My 6-year old note plays 720p fine. My cheap tablet plays 1080p w/o choking.
What's your problem? Are you disabled? Have brain damage? Parents locked you in the basement?
08/05/2013 12:20 — Anonymous
His laptop is younger than your 6-year old.
08/05/2013 19:07 — Anonymous
To the two Anon's here, you need to grow up! John's trying to offer something for you, and yer giving him shit, mostly because he doesn't like 10bit video files. Big whoop!! I don't like them either, but I'm not being condescending towards him. I just DLed the newest version of Handbrake, and it DOES work the way he said it did.

Seriously CHILDREN!!, shape up, and grow up!!

You keep quiet and don't insult people for encoding to 10bit. Help not needed.
