Yes I did, and multiple devices. Others in northern europe have the same issue. It's not a dns block, it's an issue with the anti ddos service that nyaa uses. Other sites that use the same anti ddos service dont work in northern europe.

Thanks for your message!
This website will remain after updates stop. I don't know for how long it'll remain online after that (I'll likely monitor traffic and base my decision off that), but I'll likely close all user contributions at some point, then release a stripped copy of the website's database for preservationists.

Hi admin, sad to hear the news.

Idk if you remember me since there are so many people here daily but I'm the dude that created the kanbaru user style a few years back, also the one that provided that kumpulbagi/diskocosmiko upload script right before they both shut down lmao.

You are an inspiration and touched the lives of millions of people with this project. It pains me that it's going away but I know better than trying to change your mind. I can only wonder what's going on in the background that pushed you to this decision.
Please release as much of the components as you possibly can, this is more than a website, it's a piece of history and a beacon of what the internet should be.
Also, if I could ask a selfish request, please export the feedback and torrent comments too. While basic, it's still a time capsule of the community built around here and would hate that to be lost.

Have a good one admin, wish you all the best!

The uploader may have provided such info in the description (you may need to visit source site links to see the full description).
You can also try clicking on the filename to view the mediainfo. If it's available, it will list the audio tracks in the file, under which, search for "Language".

Only just heard the news or I'd have posted sooner, will definitely be a pity to see the site go.
Even just the extracting of subs has been a great feature, I've used this site hundreds of times over the years for that.
Alone, you've saved the legacy of 11.5 years of fansubs, even after they're long dead and unfindable. Will be looking out for whatever batch files are released.
admin, I hope whatever you move on to is just as successful, and I hope someone else does keep the same ideas alive.

did you try a different dns? sometimes only dns is blocked so you can access nyaa with a different one, i recommend dns.adguard-dns.com just see a yt video or the adguard-dns.com also has method to apply

I love you. Unfortunately websites like nyaa stopped working in northern europe like 1 year ago, so animetosho is really the only website I have been able to use that has a large range of up to date content (without having to use a VPN).
Sad that it's going away. I hope a good alternative will eventually show up.

Yes.
There's been a large backlog of uploads, so they may take a while to appear.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I expect traffic here to significantly drop after updates stop. After that, I'll monitor traffic to this site, which I expect to fall off more slowly.
The website will be long gone before 2029, so any requests to the domain would be dead for years before I lose the domain. Anything that happens after that is no longer my concern.

scammers will upload virus and torjan after 2029- so try to "own" it for as long as u can even if nothing is hosted.

Hi, do you know of any alternative sites where you can download subtitles directly, like here? I make my own subtitles in my native language, and losing this site and the subtitles available for current airing anime will be a painful loss.

They never said this site is the only one who uploads to usenet tho? Where do you read that? your imagination?

So all Usenet index sites for anime depend on this one website? So Geek, Ninja, and others just won't have anime anymore on them? This website is the only website that allows them to be out on the Usenet groups to be downloaded?

They are, but Usenet is also really useful. I guess those days are now ending for anime. :(  I am really going to miss this site.
Thanks to the site owner who did it long as he has.

If they can do that, then they will not use Anime Tosho in the first place. Sites always come and go.

Agreed, the usenet mirroring has been an incredible resource over the years! Going back to other other methods will be annoying but it was good while it lasted.

Many thanks admin!

The upstream sites all have feeds.
Merging is done by skipping duplicates identified by BTIH.
There's some rules to try to skip malware, but they're only somewhat effective.

That's the general gist of it - nothing particularly fancy.

Rather than taking the code unchanged, I'll probably look only for inspiration. How to access the other sites, how to merge the listings, how to exclude posts that are unwanted noise.
Anyway... unfortunate to see this site gone. You ran a really nice operation here.

Well, the fact that you keep replying to everyone here meaning you simply care too much. Just ignore and move on. But you can't do that, can you?

Debrid is one of those things I always planned to play with but never got around to, but as my server grew it became kind of a hobby to manage it and I like having everything locally.

I feel like people are taking this as if I was genuinely complaining that torrents are "bad" or something - it was just a random half serious comment that I've been spoiled by the convenience of Tosho and not needing to torrent anything available here - that's it, it wasn't some grand commentary on file availability or some definitive statement that torrents are a bad thing. Fuck.

It would feel that way for me because I've been so spoiled by having everything this site grabs available on Usenet. Nobody's disputing what torrents are or do - that's why I said "feel like."

The fuck are you talking about, dude? I came here to thank the guy for his hard work because it was so convenient to be able to grab everything via Usenet and not have to dedicate more storage to seeding. Nobody is disputing that torrents are a big part of how this shit works - I also didn't say "not all come here for DDLs" - I said that a lot of people mentioned they missed it and that I PERSONALLY going to miss the Usenet grabs more. What kind of fucking douchebag are you that you're trying so hard to start some weird internet battle here over somebody simply saying they preferred using the Usenet grabs and would miss them? You win, dude, you win the internet fight. Go away.

I'm working on releasing the code to that, but it won't be of any use to you. The scraping code is designed to populate a database and isn't inteded to be a feed.

It's not always nyaa that deleted torrents, sometimes the uploaders also deleted their torrents but you're right. To be able to see deleted torrents is still a cool feature to have.

The tools are under my account, and I don't plan to delete them, so I'll remain a developer.

If your question is whether I will still work on the tools, that depends on future interest. The tools were developed for posting binaries here, and since that won't be happening after updates stop, there's going to be less motivation to do much work on them.
Having said that, I haven't really developed much on them for a long time now, so it doesn't really change much. I'll probably still do small amounts of maintenance work, unless someone else wants to take over development.
