Fingers crossed that you're right but I wouldn't bet on it. Zippy is one of the few old ones still standing.
My guess is the business model just isn't working anymore. Everyone and their mother is using adblockers, authorities cut donation options, a lot of people prefer streaming and the list goes on.
It's not a vocal group so I doubt a joke. They didn't explain when they shut down service to England and Germany and their last previous blog was 2018. Mostly, I don't see how anyone can not lose money doing ddl these days. Professional media said it's a miracle they last this long.
Please no. I'd rather zippyshare exit on a high note than turn into one of those other ad infested hosts. Probably a better option might have been some combination of donation, bandwidth limit, etc. But then you lose what made zippyshare special. It always felt a bit too good to be true.
Made this comment under most recent episode comments, figured it should actually be here, sorry for the mixup:
If anyone handling AnimeTosho is looking for fresh sites to add to the fetching/posting script(s), I'd suggest checking https://down.mdiaload.com/. Just as quick as Zippyshare for me, no filesize cap meaning less uploads, and files seem to stay available (not sure if it may be different regarding anime). Zippyshare has been great and dependable, they'll be missed for sure... many other sites are gone far quicker.
Usually when a site goes down, a bunch of enterprising folks try to leverage its popularity for their own gain. So your "lazy copy paste cash grabs" is most likely. The honeypot theory doesn't make much sense.

yeah, very clickbaity. Did some more digging, seems they're all hosted on the same ip 45.154.253.150, an offshore proxy, https://proxy.is/. Just do a reverse lookup here: https://dnslytics.com/reverse-ip.
You'll see there are 18 such services lmao, including anonfiles. Most of them have dns with njalla, a company created by a TPB founder.
I guess this is legit, more like an homage to all those services, setup in a hydra manner. Almost brings a tear to my eye. Remember the hydra bay? Pepperidge farm remembers. :`(

I think that was the "honeypots" reference. But I don't see any good reason for users to take an interest in notorious names from the past, it would invite trouble.

Heya animetosho folk. I stumbled today on a network of filehosting sites that seem to be vaguely familiar for anyone who's been around the block. You can start here for instance https://openload.cc/ then check out their 'friends' which are all basically the same site, same api but with a coat of paint boiling down to ripping off a now closed titan filehosting site of yore.
Anyone has an idea about wtf is going on? From my tests they work reasonably well but not amazing. Are these honeypots by any chance or just a lazy copy paste cash grabs?

I've seen reference to Tibb and their bot a few times, but I have no idea who they are and couldn't really find anything about them. I'm just curious, what exactly did they do, was it another mirror like here at AT?
So your question is if there are any mirror sites of nyaa? You may check https://nyaatorrents.info/ That of course only works if the tracker would still be up. You can also check for the trackers, when you check any file uploaded here. Any plz try to make clear sentences. Like I would not know what you mean with "here". I mean do you want to speak with some of them here? Punctuation so official introduces a new sentence. etc.
