How about skipping NanDesuKa's releases to alleviate the strain on the server? Erai-raws and SubsPlease are more than enough.
23/04/2024 21:40 — Anonymous
Sometimes NanDesuKa releases are faster than Erai-Raws and SubsPlease. skipping them is actually a bad idea ig.
24/04/2024 08:24 — Anonymous
Skipping all the spam (Everything) they post is a great idea.
23/04/2024 21:42 — Anonymous
I think skipping the dozens on seemingly identical mini encodes could free up more resources
24/04/2024 14:57 — Anonymous
Subplease is only ripping CR & hidive in 264. Which ASW encodes them to hevc.
Erai tends to rip as much as possible from multiple sources in 264. Recently tend to encode some to hevc.
Varyg tends to rip from DSNP and/or Netflix in 264.
Ember tends to reencode shows from erai or varyg to hevc. But might not be all.
So does judas but judas is doing selected shows.
Toonshub normally got their sources from bilibili. Listing in 264 and hevc.
NanDesuKa recently start listing in nyaa again. Listing the same show from multiple sources like CR/DSPN/HIDIVE/BILIBILI. Sometimes with mixture of single audio, dual audio or multiple audio.
So its up to admin to decide which to forgo.
But it seems the strain on server started after NanDesuKa still listing in nyaa.
Maybe still skipping those listings on 480p and 720p? If its possible at all. Most people would be getting the 1080p and above files.
Just for thought.A

And the 4 different AV1 posters?
24/04/2024 21:36 — Anonymous
Won't amount to much capacity freed even if the whole AV1 tag was skipped, like remuxes.
25/04/2024 22:54 — NekoTrix
AV1 all the way!
The "4 different AV1 posters" (we aren't just 4 btw) don't cover the same shows. This would do more harm than good.
25/04/2024 23:29 — Anonymous
idc, stop burning your CPUs making encodes for indians and actually contribute with something good
25/04/2024 23:48 — Anonymous
av1 isnt that good codec tbh, x265 is still way better if you really want mini encodes. it's okay if you disagree
26/04/2024 10:22 — Anonymous
x265 isn't the codec. Well it's clear as day you don't have any fucking idea of what you're talking about. So please refrain from yapping when you don't even know the basics
26/04/2024 10:58 — Anonymous
Did i say x265 a codec? please read the comment slowly. I only say x265 is better than av1? besides hevc can also nvenc as encoder (gpu encode) not always x265 (cpu encode). the only problem here is one's ability to read. cheerio
26/04/2024 11:00 — Anonymous
exactly what yuisubs did back in the day.
26/04/2024 11:02 — Anonymous
AV1 isn't the encoder buddy
26/04/2024 11:05 — Anonymous
I never said AV1 is an encoder tho? rav1e is an encoder for av1 that i know. i never work with av1 so pardon me with limited knowledge of av1

AV1 all the way!
It's not a matter of agreeing or not, AV1 minis are objectively more appealing to look at than HEVC minis, you'd have to be braindead to claim the opposite.
14/05/2024 17:20 — Anonymous
Let's clear up some confusion and understand why AV1 is a superior codec, especially for low bitrate media.
Firstly, the Alliance for Open Media (AOMedia) was founded by several leading tech companies, including:
1.

Google
2.

Mozilla
3.

Netflix
4.

Amazon
5.

Microsoft
These companies came together to develop AV1, aiming to create a more efficient, open, and royalty-free video codec.
Now, let's talk about why AV1 is superior for low bitrate media:
1.

Higher Compression Efficiency: AV1 offers significantly better compression than older codecs like HEVC (H.265). This means you can get similar or even better video quality at a much lower bitrate, saving bandwidth and storage.
2.

Enhanced Visual Quality: AV1 includes advanced techniques like adaptive quantization and directional filtering, which improve visual quality, especially at lower bitrates.
3.

Open and Royalty-Free: Unlike HEVC, AV1 is royalty-free, which means anyone can use it without paying licensing fees. This encourages broader adoption and innovation.
4.

Wide Support: Major platforms and browsers are already supporting AV1, ensuring that content encoded with AV1 can be widely accessed and enjoyed.
5.

Future-Proofing: AV1 is designed with future advancements in mind, ensuring it remains relevant and effective as technology evolves.
In conclusion, while HEVC (x265) has its merits, AV1 offers a more efficient, higher quality, and cost-effective solution for low bitrate media. The collaboration of industry giants behind AV1 further underscores its potential and reliability.
Let's keep our discussions informed and constructive.

So keeping all of that in mind, if you think a 1080p hevc 200MB (average mini size) anime episode looks better than av1, without providing a slow.pics comparison that proves your point, you therefore forfeit your masters degree in yaponomics.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I generally try to avoid picking favourites here, though we'll have to see how long that can last.

How about skipping all batch file uploads, even under 5GB?
then, fetch on weekdays only when requested.
Everyone wants to watch asap for weekly proglams, batches are not.
25/04/2024 09:17 — Anonymous
I second this, batches should be skipped unless there are changes made in that batch but normally batches exist for easier downloading.
25/04/2024 12:42 — admin
Batches actually have lowered priority here, so they mostly run after the singles.
24/04/2024 14:59 — Anonymous
Most of their sources are CR, but some B-Global, and some Dual Audio from HiDive and CR.  And I also saw they had some AMZN and DSNP and HMAX.  But they are probably 95% redundant with other sources.

In sympathy, but pointing out some complications.
24/04/2024 21:46 — Anonymous
How about skipping everything above 500 MB, but adding a button to skipped torrents to process on demand, maybe up to 20-30 GB and not older than a day/week?
Since people ask in comments under torrents anyway.
24/04/2024 22:02 — Anonymous
most 1080p releases nowadays are over 1 gigs unless the bitrate is starved. skipping torrents above 500mb will cause most of 1080p releases not fetched.
24/04/2024 22:32 — Anonymous
And most 720p too. That's the point.
I personally just want some non-english subs to go with whatever reencode I torrented, so 480p would suffice.
Other people may have other conerns, possibly covered by on-demand suggestion.
26/04/2024 20:18 — Anonymous
Again this argument of starving bitrates, it's the children from africa of weebs. How about if you want > 1GB per episode you get your own damn seedbox for downloading dem chinese cartoons. Can't watch all the stillshots and cut corners in the animation unless muh grain.

> skipping torrents above 500mb will cause most of 1080p releases not fetched.
Good! that's the whole point of this thread, if something gets the axe I hope it's these kinds of releases. Makes sense to go after the biggest space wasters first. Most links don't live that long anyways, AT is mostly for getting a quick fix.  For archival go someplace else.
26/04/2024 21:35 — Anonymous
the space wasters is the eye cancer encodes.

quality encodes don't waste space.

how about just skipping all shit encodes under 1GB.
25/04/2024 09:23 — Anonymous
that would surely skip mini encodes. people who watch judas, ember, asw and etc will not be able to dl from here. minis arent great but there are people who still wants them.

For those interested, I took all the torrents posted from last weekend (2024-04-20 00:00:00 to 2024-04-21 23:59:59 GMT), excluded those marked duplicate, and ran some numbers on them.
You can do your own numbers if you wish - data dump (or use a full database export).

Last weekend torrent stats: https://storage.animetosho.org/ul/stat...240420.png
(only groups with 5 or more torrents are listed in the summary; the other figures include all entries)
25/04/2024 14:49 — Anonymous
lmao nandesuka torrents are the most processed exceeding subsplease and erai raws.
25/04/2024 14:53 — Anonymous
I guess skipping nandesuka might not be so bad after all
25/04/2024 15:25 — Anonymous
It's better to subsplease and erai raw learn to provide video sources, rather than asking AT to kick other groups. I know you are their competitors.
25/04/2024 17:49 — Anonymous
The simplest thing is for people to understand they will just have to wait a bit for releases to be processed.
25/04/2024 20:20 — Anonymous: "Anonym"
That's right. All these suggestions about skipping above/below 1 GB, etc. is BS. Hopefully admin won't care about them. All they should do is practicing some patience.
25/04/2024 20:22 — Anonymous
There's a reason why they are called "SpamDesuKa"
25/04/2024 20:28 — Anonymous
it seems people are most worried about delays in getting what they want.  And it's hard to believe skipping any source would make much of a difference.

Try to use any extra minutes in something profitable like homework or exercise.
25/04/2024 22:11 — Anonymous
nah the numbers dont lie, the data is there. I was hesitant about it first but skipping nandesuka might be worthwhile.
25/04/2024 23:13 — Anonymous
so if the numbers are there how many minutes of delay do you estimate?
25/04/2024 23:46 — Anonymous
its not about delay, it is to lessen the strain on the server because as you can see in the weekly stats nandesuka takes up almost 25% of total processed torrents
25/04/2024 23:23 — Anonymous
Since SubsPlease is the one that includes only English subs, they should be the one to go.
25/04/2024 23:28 — Anonymous
They are by far the most consistent group, are you crack?
25/04/2024 23:56 — Anonymous
why should they go just because they only include english subs?
26/04/2024 05:46 — Anonymous
SubsPlease gets 10x the downloads than any other group.

Also, default sub styles from Crunchyroll and Hidive are terrible.
25/04/2024 16:25 *Tarte_aux_quetsches
Maybe at least skipping their Crunchyroll rips could be useful. Of course it's up to you to decide.
26/04/2024 00:27 — admin
Thanks for the suggestion.
For now, since DownloadGG was dropped, I'll see how things go.
(the limitation is upload bandwidth, so skipping content isn't the only lever available)

Those attributes sound attractive. My main concern would be how new the service is, and thus its longer term viability.
But if others find it useful, it can be explored.

You can create a torrent only section or torrent only site and skip unnecessary encodes and post them in the torrent only section with only torrent file and magnet link. That way you can post all torrents without completely skipping them.
I use this site because this shows more details of search results than nyaa and it's easy to find torrents here and there's a good collection of torrents here also..
I only use this to download files through torrent and I don't usually go to file hosting sites.
For me this site is faster than nyaa too.
So you can consider about this idea :))
26/04/2024 08:04 — Anonymous
If you ignore all DDL and "processing/skipped" labels, you already have the torrents, index, search and series/episodes.
File Info, screenshots, subs and attachments for processed torrents are a bonus.
Do you have something else in mind?

Nyaa has different search engine rules. I find it easier to add variants/exclusions to a query than AT, maybe just me though.
Also AT matches filenames inside in addition to torrent titles, which often adds more noise to results. On the plus side, it has links to series. Still, automatic series sometimes include wrong torrents or miss what you would find via search.
26/04/2024 10:06 — admin
Thanks for providing info on how you use this site.

That way you can post all torrents without completely skipping them.
All torrents of applicable categories are posted, regardless of them skipping processing.
Perhaps you're referring to other categories?
27/04/2024 17:57 — Anonymous: "MC3REN"
I have read the previous comments. In those comments, some people who have asked to stop posting some ripper's torrents. I posted this comment as a reply to them to post any torrent without completely skipping the them...
27/04/2024 19:58 — Anonymous
So now you understand the skipped entries are the greyed-out ones.  In the left column of the AT page is a link called "About/FAQs" for more information about this site.

whatever you're using to take screenshots needs proper tonemapping
18/05/2024 22:34 — admin
Thanks for the suggestion.
The code for rendering the screenshots can be found here and here - pull requests welcome.

Though I don't think tonemapping is the correct solution.
19/05/2024 17:15 — Anonymous
Does it take up a lot of server load?
20/05/2024 00:55 — admin
No clue, but I can't imagine it would matter much.
19/05/2024 18:16 — Anonymous
How would you deal with it then?
20/05/2024 00:56 — admin
I clearly don't have the solution, but wouldn't tonemapping be incorrect on a HDR display?
20/05/2024 11:14 — Anonymous
I wouldn't worry about the HDR screenshots. My HDR monitor automatically switches to HDR mode when it senses a HDR signal but I doubt it would sense a HDR screenshot to even switch modes.
20/05/2024 12:45 — admin
Thanks for the info, but that's for your setup.
The decision to tonemap should be done by the client, not the server. The server just needs to flag the image with the corresponding transfer function, and let the client decide on how it should be rendered.
20/05/2024 12:40 — Anonymous
Yes, they would be "incorrect" on a HDR display, however they're honestly egregious at the moment

The only_nzb=1 option for the rss feed doesnt work properly. It provides recent items which arent uploaded to usenet yet. The torrent and direct download links in the description element are confusing sabnzbd. It tries to download non-nzb related files which are listed in the description.

Can you remove non-nzb download links from the description element? Filtering only_nzb=1 should work fine when it only shows results which has the enclosure element filled with a nzb file.
