about the hardware support, i have a modern tv but it doesn't support dolby vision with AV1 (i don't know the reason, it's related to profiles i guess) also decoding was very slow (your old encodes 2024) but now it's smooth and seeking also works without lag

This just confirms we’re talking about two different things. AV1 is not supported by the Blu-ray Disc specification, so an AV1-encoded disc is not a "Blu-ray movie" and I repeat calling it “AV1 Blu-ray” would be misleading. What you're referring to is that a BD can still be used as a data storage medium like any other, and if a "player"’s firmware supports AV1 file playback, for instance by mounting it through your PC and playing back the files with VLC (don't btw, use MPV), then it can play AV1 files burned to a BD just like from USB or an HDD. Just for shits and giggles I burned some av1 files on my actual BluRay drive to a blank BD disc and they played back just fine. If your stand-alone player has issues then it is a firmware problem just like years ago they wouldn't play HEVC, my stand-alone player will play HEVC I've burned because it is a newer model. A lot of TVs won't play HEVC or av1 from a hard drive because of firmware. So actually Derp is correct, it's just a storage medium and it just depends on the player you use.
