If i search for deadfish (https://animetosho.org/search?q=deadfish) i only get updates until 09/03/2014. While in reality the recent torrent from deadfish is today 11/03/2014 (https://animetosho.org/view/deadfish-pretty-rhythm-rainbow-live-48-720p-aac-mp4.753615)

What happen?

That's very weird - not entirely sure, but it appears the search server barfed.
It should be fixed now. Thanks a lot for pointing that out.

DNS Blocking by US

A week ago I saw evidence that the US was beginning to block sites at the DNS level, specifically nipponsei.minglong.org, a place for anime music.  Your browser will just tell you it can't find the site or there is no response or it times out, etc.

The same thing could happen here at AnimeTosho or Tibb's place or anywhere.  Now is the time to prepare, because too late is too late.  So my suggestions:

1. If your browser can't connect to AT for a few days, try:

http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/

2. If the AT site is up for everyone else, try to connect to AT with an anonymizer, like:

https://simple-proxy.com/

It hides your location.  Type or copy AT's address in the box at the top of their page

I got my anime music site back this way.

Let's hope you never need to know this to find AT, but you'll probably need to know this for some reason in the near future.

Admin, if you have better or other advice?  And thanks for everything.

I can get on nipponsei.minglong.org just fine without the use of proxy.
13/03/2014 13:41 — Anonymous
From where is the key question.

btw, tested block with Firefox and Opera

I wouldn't be commenting on this if I weren't from the US.

Ah Mendokusai....
Same here am from the US and an access it just fine.

If you have Comcast or Verizon, or one of those bigger ISPs then it could be them blocking it.

Also from the US and it worked fine for me.
14/03/2014 02:08 — admin
I haven't heard of any US legislation about enforcing DNS blocking (has been discussed, but not put into action).
UK ISPs do perform DNS blocking, but only on the bigger sites. I'd find it rather weird if minglong.org was blocked.
The blocks can easily be circumvented by just using an alternative DNS resolver, examples OpenDNS, Google DNS. This may not work if the countries that the DNS resolvers reside in have to enforce DNS blocking, but this doesn't appear to be the case yet.

In either case, AT is not likely to get blocked any time soon in the US, simply due to how small this website is along with the target demographic.

For your case of not being able to access minglong, it's much more likely a network/routing or server issue.

http://www.multiupload.nl/SNNWWMTJWM

Stop sharing subtitle attachment on multiupload. Link dies quickly. Try zippyshare, get.tt, sendspace, 1fichier.

I'm implementing a different mechanism to hopefully solve this issue.
Sorry for the inconveniences.

There is a way to add attachments to the ASS subtitles themself in form of UTF8 or ASCII formatted text (MkvMergeGUI will automatically recognize such attachments when you're muxing the subs). Aegisub can do this, but I don't know how to do this with command line. But maybe I'll find a solution and post it here.
16/03/2014 11:18 — admin
I presume it would be some sort of base64 encode or similar, in other words, rather inefficient.
Thanks for the tip nonetheless though.
18/03/2014 00:07 — Anonymous
Result being the .ass files being ridiculously huge. not worth it.
20/03/2014 11:23 — Anonymous
It's using uuencoding. According to Wikipedia it adds about 33% overhead, which I wouldn't call "ridiculously" high (wow, so 3 MB turns into 4 MB. your internet connection is not capable of handling that??).
You could upload an ASS file with embedded attachments to a text file hoster alternatively to one with all attachments stored on a regular hoster.
20/03/2014 12:54 — admin
I'd so totally kill for a 33% gain...

More seriously, unfortunately tny.cz have a 1MB size limit, so that 3MB font won't fit there. I'd imagine most other paste services would have similar limits.
As for regular hoster, that's what the "All Attachments" link is for.

In reality it's actually a fair bit more than 33%, since the attachments are 7-Zipped.
And then there's those files that have 60MB of fonts (yes, I've seen them, people do it)...
21/03/2014 17:17 — Anonymous
60MB of fonts is really crazy. I can see your point.
But in case someone might be interrested, here's some CLI stuff for batch attaching fonts to ass files:
https://github.com/Youka/UUEncode-simple
https://gist.github.com/darealshinji/9690928

(Aegisub compatible; there seems to be bug with mkvtoolnix that creates currupted checksums when handling ass files with embedded fonts)

Solidfiles.com is very good.

There's a new damn uploader who puts unwanted videos as anime on nyaa, can't you ignore or delete them from here admin ?

-When a torrent is deleted on Nyaa, the file usually gets deleted here at AT, but it may take a while, even a day.  Nyaa is pretty good at catching and deleting inappropriate torrents.

-When/If something slips thru, if you could leave a note with a link to that AT page here.

-I don't think you were asking if we can delete stuff on Nyaa?  Their loss.
