Hi! I just thought that I should let you know that in the last day or so, I have noticed that certain uploads donnot have the solidfiles links on them.

I just wanted to find out if this was intentional? Some do have the links and some donnot. I feel that solidfiles is an amazing place to download from, and almost exclusively use that. I just thought I should let you know in the case that you may not have noticed.

Thanks for reading.

Examples?

Did you know that Solidfiles doesn't allowed the upload of file exceeding the size of 500mb into their server?
06/12/2014 13:25 *Galaxy_Defenders
AT splits files into parts when the whole file exceeds the dl service size limits.  For example:
https://animetosho.org/view/horriblesu...mkv.841086
567MB split into 2 parts for Solidfiles, 3 parts for Sharebeast, etc.
06/12/2014 23:44 — Anonymous
A split file would be measured below the 500mb limit and that might've explained why it can be downloaded from Solidfiles. The point is that, a file reaching over the size of 500mb wouldn't still become available on Solid, unless it is cut down to a few parts.

what happened to anonfiles? no more uploads there?
08/12/2014 08:16 — Galaxy_Defenders
The AnonFiles.com site has been down for a couple of days.
-I haven't seen any news about anonfiles on torrentfreak or elsewhere.
-Weekend outages are often not resolved until the next business week, which would only now be getting started.
-They had been down for several days a few weeks ago, as I recall.

Weird, ever since anonfiles is down, it seems like every single download I make from any other file hosts gives me a CRC error when I check them with animechecker?

I'll try to fix 'em with the torrents at home
12/12/2014 00:28 — cool_boy_mew
Well, how strange.

Checking every files with a CRC checker (Animechecker) gave me a "file not ok" with a different CRC on everything I've downloaded since monday (which also coincide with anonfiles being down). But the files seemed fine on a quick look. Then I make uTorrent check them, it does it 100%, doesn't download anything more for the file and that's it. THEN rechecking them they're ok?...

This is strange. I know the other file hosts shouldn't be the problems because I used them before. Perhaps Jdownloader2 (because of a recent update?) deletes something from the file headers or something, but I can't see why they would then be fixed after utorrent checking them and doing nothing more?

I uhh ... Yeah, I just don't know
12/12/2014 02:49 — Envy
Ah Mendokusai....
That's weird and your using Jdownloader2 to download the files right?! And if so what site are you downloading them from and have you tired downloading them from another another site? And run Animechecker also you have tired a different CRC but I guess that doesn't make much difference here.
12/12/2014 03:58 *cool_boy_mew
I used filepup, Share-Online and Oboom, which I've used in the past when Anonfiles/Mega links were down, so they should be fine?

The thing I'm wondering is if it's actually a old problem that I never noticed, because the anonfiles links were actually zipped, so if my random theory that Jdownloader erase perhaps something unneeded from the header or something, it shouldn't affect what's inside the zip file.

What I'm even more confused at is uTorrent fixing the problem while checking the file somehow, it doesn't even switch to downloading for a single second

Oh well, since it's the holiday break very soon, I'm switchign to unmetered Internet (just during the holidays, I download stuff at school usually due to 60GB a month), so it won't be a problem for long, I can just fix 'em using my method. But yeah, so strange?

Also, a suggestion to the Admin: Wouldn't it be better if the files were zipped for all hosts instead? Not only it can prevent weird situations like mine, but I find it super frustrating when some file hosts changes the spaces, () and [] to _ and massively screw up the filenames. It's not pretty, manually fixing it is annoying , (I think) it goes in the way of CRC checkers if the filename is all screwed up and also might go in the way of automatic anime list updater like MAL Updater
12/12/2014 06:12 — admin
Perhaps you do get something missing, which makes the hash wrong. uTorrent perhaps fixes it up, but since it's only a small part of the file, it doesn't take long (and maybe it's 100% due to rounding issues).

Some people don't like files being wrapped in an archive, due to the fact that you have to unzip it, and if you intend to put it somewhere where you can't do the unzip, things get tricky. The filename issue is a hard one, but I suppose it's a tradeoff between the effort required to extract vs rename a file (where the latter is technically optional). And unfortunately you can't really design something for 'weird situations' because... they're not explained, and hence you can't really guarantee anything.
12/12/2014 06:48 — Anonymous
Well, shouldnt u report to jdownloader instead, since its jdownloader fault? xD
I dont like idea of zipping everything..it add hassle for me.
12/12/2014 15:20 — Anonymous
For what it's worth:
1. I'm not hearing here that this is a problem other jdownloader users are having.  That might suggest something unique to your situation.
2. If you think the problem may have coincided with an upgrade, perhaps you can try rolling back to the previous version, or at least a re-install of the current.

12/12/2014 03:43 — Anonymous
Maybe jdownloader2 fault. I've used IDM and nothing wrong in crc checksum
15/12/2014 05:22 — Anonymous
why i can't download attachment...it says 502 bad gateway
15/12/2014 07:07 — admin
This should now be fixed.

Thanks for fixing it

why no link for MAL in other to check the details of anime?
16/12/2014 02:48 — admin
Actually, I was seeing if anyone was really using those links, so thanks for posting the question =)

If you're wondering why it's gone though, I've been changing how data retrieval is done on the back end and slowly integrating things across. This doesn't have a lot of visible effects - it mostly just makes things easier on the back end. The only downside of this though, is that the AniDB API only returns certain resource IDs (where MAL/Wiki are not included, which is why they're no longer displayed).
For now, if you click on the AniDB link, it'll point to MAL in the Resources section. I'll probably revert some changes soon, and perhaps look at another way to grab the MAL link.
16/12/2014 11:34 — admin
MAL/Wiki links added back in. I'll see if I can retain those with new changes.

Thx admin...btw this site is awesome ;)

Does this site ever received any DMCA or it is anonymous, pretty much like Nyaa? It's a good site and I'm happy that I could pirate as much as I want. *laugh* But seriously, I've do supported the industry sometimes, though I'm not rich enough to make a change.

This site is next on the list to be taken down.

1. admin is actually the prime minister of a country and has diplomatic immunity

2. admin is already updating AT from within a Swedish prison.  They torture him with no syrup for his Swedish pancakes or gravy for his Swedish meatballs and hot wax from a Swedish nurse in a bikini.
19/12/2014 17:30 — Envy
Ah Mendokusai....
Nyaa's isn't anonymous they receive a lot of DMCA take down requests but ignore them.

This site isn't well known like nyaa's so I doubt it's on the radar yet....
20/12/2014 08:39 — Anonymous
Actually, AnimeTosho is apparently becoming well known.  It was in the headline of yesterday's TorrentFreak:

3. Admin is actually a member of the infamous group of hacker called "Anonymous", hence why each name entries started with "Anonymous".

Maybe, just maybe add Google Drive as an alternative.
22/12/2014 13:13 — admin
I don't see how it'd be feasible with the space limitations...

having problem uploading to nyaa. After uploading, there's a song.

Just realize this, the preview pics/screenshots actually can give you spoilers about the episode. Could you please to give the preview pics a show-and-hide feature?
26/12/2014 09:49 — admin
Hmm, what do you think about only showing the first two screenshots, then clicking something to show the rest?
26/12/2014 14:53 — goldfish
That's a good idea, people can still check the quality of the video without having the fear of spoilers.
27/12/2014 13:19 *admin
Added, albeit crude implementation.
Feedback welcome.

Thanks for the suggestion!

A tedious extra click.  It would be nicer if the user could specify if they wanted this option in their user profile.
28/12/2014 05:38 *admin
I was hoping to not have to make it so complicated.

Let's see:
- I did originally wonder whether the thumbnails could be much of a spoiler, but thought that 5 small still images generally wouldn't be able to reveal much. I suppose in rare cases it might though.
- All 5 screenshots have been on display for a few years now without anyone pointing out an issue, so perhaps it is rare.
- As download links are posted on the front page, I suspect most don't click through to the details. If you want further info, or want the additional links, then you may click through (additional links could be gathered from the latest comments page, but this may be a little unnatural, or the link not noticed by most visitors) where a spoiler may result. I suspect most users looking for video details only do so on the first (or so) episode and just stick with their chosen group for the rest of the season. The only other group that comes to mind are those who want the subtitles. I'm not entirely sure of what these people do exactly (download & watch a RAW, then mux subs in later?) so don't know how much the thumbnails affect them.
- I see thumbnails as mainly useful for seeing obvious problems in the video, such as a stuck frame or mislabeled content, in which the first two images should be enough?
- For those using the images to get an indication of quality of the video, they'll be clicking through to the bigger version anyway.

How do you make use of the thumbnails?
28/12/2014 06:29 *rdruffy
Commenting because I like my avatar picture, meow!
Actually I never thought really much about the thumbnails as spoiler.

For me the thumbnails are just indicator that the release is real, not some fake torrent. Nowadays are really rare about fake torrent though, but it's still safer with thumbnails.

Btw, I just realized you adding additional feature which indicated the torrent source, this is really nice feature :)
