It may be possible, but there's a few hurdles. One major one is they don't do categorisation of any kind, so I can't filter out non anime stuff easily. Do you happen to know of a way to do this?

KAT is back and doing pretty good, EXT has gotten a lot better, TPB is down at times but the guys behind it are reliable to an extent.

it's not back. Just a copy site made from cache backup by bots. there's a Kat forum, that's run by old forum admins from original KAT. EXT and BTS gotten worse with the ads and popups. Only rarbg is standing, but that's closed upload only. no fansub group will use any of them.

You mean reborn. Crunchyroll used to be an illegal streaming site like the rest, but it had a better selection and organisation thanks to users running it like a wiki.

Crunchyroll was sold and became one of the biggest legal anime distributor in the U.S, also killing fansub community in process.

No-one can really predict the future, so who knows really. I know you just asked for an opinion on chance, but looking years ahead is difficult. At this point, I intend to keep going over the next few years, but there's things that I'm not willing to do, so if such a thing becomes necessary, that may change.

Backups? Of what kind? Of course, disks die, servers die etc, so anyone sane will keep backups to deal with these issues. But of course, if I get bored one day and decide to kill everything, that's something different.
Ultimately we're just a mirror though, so if we go, you'll still be able to get your content from elsewhere.

I don't think I have enough wit to answer the other two questions in a satisfying way.
