I've been seeing "unofficial Nyaa 2.0 is coming soon", and I've been checking nyaa.pantsu.cat for days. Doesn't look like anyone is posting new magnetic links. The latest post was " [Golumpa] Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) S2 - 02 [English Dub] [FuniDub 1080p x264 AAC] [MKV] " dated  2017-05-01T17:37:00Z , and it has been like that for 4~5 days. Anyone has any updates?
09/05/2017 18:42 — Anonymous
those are cache sites, 2.0 is a new project
09/05/2017 19:22 — timo97
pantsu is getting close to becoming that "nyaa 2.0" tbh
they have accounts now, a torrent host (anicache.com), etc
give them another day or two, and it will have new stuff coming in
it's an opensource project on github, so anybody can contribute

A little off topic. Any place that is currently hosting raw manga/magazine ?

You guys talked about TT, AniDex and Anirena. All I can find on them are anime and mostly raw Hentai manga etc.
I know anime is a big thing but I want a place for regular manga/magazine, like the old Nyaa.se . Any hope?

And your point being? With the exception of MEGA, 90% of filehosters/multiupload services in both past and preset, have some form of bad popup/aggressive ads. It's a common sense of use download managers to avoid them and also get additional features.

You will not have to worry about deadly viruses if you are on Linux.
Install Linux Mint.
Install uBlock Origin, Bluhell Firewall and Avira Browser Safety on Firefox and you are good.
Also enable Gufw firewall which comes preloaded with Linux Mint.
For download manager, you can use uGet Download Manager with Flashgot.
10/05/2017 06:59 — Anonymous
and qBittorrent for all torrenting stuff.
Mint also comes preloaded bittorrent client called Transmission.

I'm curious: how can you know he ain't got security patches?
The latest Bulletin covers everything from 4.4.4.
So if he got a google device or is on custom rom with recent updates ...
No, actually that is more secure than most Android 7 devices.
10/05/2017 17:01 — Anonymous
Sure it does. You think those patches are magically pushed to the old devices? Are aware of planned obsolescence and fragmentation? Google only provide monthly ASB updates for Nexus devices for certain time frame https://support.google.com/nexus/answe...us_devices

Custum ROMs stopped backporting those patches to older versions long. Cold hard truth is that you must upgrade to major version for those security updates, whether it's on custom ROM or stock android version. So no, Clockwork guy doesn't seem to have latest security updates.

Who said magically? Tell me. And Android 7 is barely a year old. Google guarantees at least 3 years of security updates. If it would be a Nexus 6/9 ...

Nope, there are quite a some of Custom ROMs that are regularly updated also on older Versions. It depends on some factors like popularity of the device, open source of drivers etc. If one wants to be future proof he has to do some homework, but that's not the topic. You could only argue about android 5. Just saw/know of recent updates provided for Android 4 and 6, not 5 - but who am I to talk.

So you say devices with Android 7, yet waiting for security updates guilty for most of them are inferior to those with latest security updates (including community updates)?

About ff plugins -  yeah, uBlock Origin but generally (geman but sure u can use translation services): https://www.privacy-handbuch.de/handbu...rowser.htm (also take the user.js in the summary)
10/05/2017 17:07 — GNaTsho
IMO, the Best Adblock is Ublock Origin.

On PC , other then adblock you should also use anti exploit, i recommend this one: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/...lone-beta/ , it basically prevent nasty stuff from your browser to get into your PC.

and also if you want to be more secure use NoScript addon on Firefox, it's a hassle at first but it worth it if you really want to make sure no nasty/unknown sources running on a webstte you visited.

If you really want to be on the safe side, use virtual machine.
10/05/2017 17:27 — Anonymous
Yep.

VM/Hypervisor/LXC is the future.
10/05/2017 23:46 — Anonymous

Format Windows 7 64 and Install Linux Mint 64.
You can watch Anime and music on Linux Mint, just install SMPlayer or MPV.
VLC comes preloaded but we all know VLC sucks.
You can also play games on Linux, just install Steam, Playonlinux and Lutris.

#Even a Pawn can take down a King#
Just some opinion about Mint. I personally would not recommend Mint for inexperienced users, as the selection of updates in the default config might cause serious security issues. Already discussed here:

Mint doesn't hold back security updates, it simply doesn't install updates that may make system unstable or unable to boot.
You can always select "Always update everything" if you want.

https://nyaa.pantsu.cat/ update: the new torrents started flowing in; i guess we have a working nyaa again :)

i think it's important that it's a community effort, with dozens of contributors on github, and is built on a backup database that combines the works of many
10/05/2017 19:33 — Anonymous

+A lot of people are working on it
+It already has a comment-feature
10/05/2017 20:22 — Anonymous
Which means that when the domain/server dies, it'll be easy to start another. Like how TPB has survived. AniDex is the new Nyaa.
10/05/2017 20:32 — timo97
The best would be having a network of servers that sync to each other: one dies, the rest go on. Also, moving targets are harder to hit.

Anidex is lovely, but its scope is far more restricted than Nyaa's was.
10/05/2017 20:42 — Anonymous
restricted? in what way? If a fansub group's release is missing, go ask them to post there. Then we can have a single animu hub again.

And your network idea won't work, as admin already pointed out why, in your last post about that.
10/05/2017 20:43 *timo97
nyaa: raws, official releases, recodes, and also books, games, etc
admin's opinion is only respected, not infallible; adults can disagree
10/05/2017 20:45 — Anonymous
they already have those category, it's just not well known enough for people to start posting their shit there.
10/05/2017 20:49 — timo97
i stand corrected. anidex is awesome. there's still place for something less regulated, something like what nyaa was
10/05/2017 20:53 — Anonymous
Are you new? Nyaa was more regulated than AniDex.
10/05/2017 20:55 — timo97
I feel personally attacked ?
10/05/2017 21:02 — RamenSub
you have never upload stuffs at nyaa I assume.
Doki is forbidden and censored there iirc
and they don't allow some tracker.

And messing with the wrong person will get your comments deleted.
10/05/2017 21:07 — Anonymous
You keep trolling every time.
10/05/2017 21:44 — admin
Have personally received the "teapot" errors when attempting to upload to Nyaa in the past. Chat wasn't of much help.
I expect something as popular as Nyaa to need some sort of filtering, but it would've been nice if they had at least provided rejection reasons. An open source project may not have hidden rejection reasons or logic, but we'll have to see whether being so transparent holds up against bad actors out there (alternatively, they could just run a fork with hidden code in there at the expense of being less open).
10/05/2017 21:51 — Anonymous
Teapot error reasons:
1. bad tracker url
2. banned torrent hash
3. torrent is not valid bencoding
10/05/2017 22:06 — admin
I had tried various things, so pretty sure it was none of those (tried adding/removing trackers, was original content so couldn't have been banned, and the torrent file was definitely valid). Thanks for the info nonetheless.
10/05/2017 22:00 — admin
And your network idea won't work, as admin already pointed out why, in your last post about that.
I can't see a P2P system working well, but if you centralize, you could replicate updates down to 3rd party servers.
The issue then is: who becomes the new central server when the old one dies?
10/05/2017 20:18 — timo97
excuse my excitement
31/05/2017 15:12 *timo97
I haven't been around for a while. HorribleSubs mentioned the pantsu devs were connected to racist stuff on 4chan, then I went on /pol/ to verify. Well enough, people were like pantsu v.s. Nyaa.si was "ourguy" v.s. the "cartel" (wtf that even means, idiots; it's fucking anime, grow up and enjoy it.)

So yea after that I was like okay bye. Nothing puts me off more that racist shit.

Add to this that pantsu goes 502 more often than not, while Nyaa.si is stable and groups support it.
31/05/2017 23:53 — admin
It's 4chan: I think you'll find a lot more to be offended at there. It's definitely not the place to go to if you're easily offended (or if you're looking for serious discussion for that matter).
11/06/2017 14:50 — timo97
My point was that the "politically incorrect" (euphemism for "we're racist scum") group on 4chan were referring to the pantsu dev as "ourguy" -- basically, proof that the stuff HorribleSubs were concerned about was not made up.
12/06/2017 00:04 — admin
Does it matter though? Again, it's 4chan, and that's more or less the norm over there.
01/06/2017 02:52 — Anonymous
pantu link posted on 4chan by some anon > ppl flock pantu irc > ppl starts their 4chan culture on pantsu irc like > KunGao capitalizes and posts lies > HS masses flock back to nyaa.si > others follow.

pantsu is actively pushing live code so you're gonna get server down error more often. it's gonna take time to punch out all the bugs and features before it becomes stable.

anyway it doesn't really matter. all this drama over nothing. at least we have 2 nyaa mirrors now, if one goes down, the other is there (pantsu auto fetches unlike TT).
