Hi, its been bothering on my head eversince i discovered AT some 2 yrs ago. The thing is that i noticed that some files uploaded to solidfiles got a long expiration time while some other files easily get expired(solidfiles). Example: a rouroni kenshin batch uploaded to solidfile on june 2015 is still alive and running compared to a tokyo ghoul uploaded on september 2016. Hmm why is that?

I also noticed that most of the files that got long expiration date do not contain any information on whose encoder or uploader, just plain Title of the anime series.

For a while solidfiles were done as 7z with a random file name. I don't think it helped retention. Deletions appear to be mostly date based.

Solidfiles has also had different policies over the years. File retention differences may reflect the policies at the time they were uploaded.

The answer is simple.
Usually files will be deleted after one month of inactivity. So if a person downloads the file, say 28 days after the last download, retention of that file will be renewed for another month and just by luck, files can remain long on file hosting sites.

usenet.farm seems pretty interesting.

According to their faq they allow posting, it doesn't count towards your bandwith and they don't log which articles you posted.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yeah, the block is way bigger than I'll ever need, but I'll keep it in mind anyway.

You should start doing your own research mate.
Basically aniDB is like the Final Form of anime listing site.
you can't download from there but you can get info on who have released the anime you want (if any) and their contact info.

I have my internal HDDs, a dozen 8 and 16GB USB flash drives and a 1TB and a 2TB external HDDs and yet I'm sure I would need several more 2TB drives if I was going to download not 7GB episodes but only 1GB/ep.

Besides increasing the storage space, the solution is cramming higher image quality into smaller files (at the cost of increased computation power) and that's where H.265/HEVC comes to the scene ;)

It's logical to assume downloads during the outage would be flushed and won't be getting Direct links. But there still appears to be links for these files at all the favourite download sites, so grab while you can.

It's better to make comments about a page on that page. Because of all your posts which had nothing to do with AT or anime, many of us now skip reading the Feedback section.

I think 2,5 GB per episode should be decent enough size. I personally prefer 7 GB per episode.
