Be aware of new ransomware wiper outbreak, guys.

Right now NotPetya (AKA Petya, Petna, ExPetr) is wrecking a havoc across the globe (Not long after WannaCry ransomware campaign). Be aware to not be another victim of this dangerous and highly destructive malware.
If your system is infected with it, you won't be able to recover and unlock your files even if you pay the ransom (of course paying the ransom is pointless now that NotPetya operator's email account is shut down by the German email provider, so there will be no decryption key sent via that email account), because it's not a ransomware (like original Petya) to make money but an encryptor/disk wiper to cause destruction and mayhem like Shamoon and KillDisk malwares.

To prevent infection, as always said, keep your OS and programs up to date (specially the Windows OS itself in this particular case), use a reputable Internet security suit and don't download email attachment you don't expect to receive, among many other tips and must-dos.

And here's the vaccine, not killswitch, found for NotPetya ransomware outbreak:

Go to Windir (usually C:\Windows), copy and paste notepad.exe there and rename it to perfc with no extension ("Hide extensions for known file types" should be unchecked in "Folder and search options" beforehand). And then make perfc Read-only by rigth-clicking on it, selecting Properties and then Read-only and clicking on the Apply button and then the OK button.

While this C:\windows\perfc file is all needed to vaccinate a computer, it has also been suggested that you create C:\Windows\perfc.dat and C:\Windows\perfc.dll (the same way as C:\windows\perfc) to be thorough.
