Anyone like the new Alita: Battle Angel movie?
14/02/2019 23:07 — Anonymous
It sort of answers a question I'd wondered about: What if a human-ish person had big anime eyes.

Possibilities are endless ...
Did you know?
The population of China and India are 110 and 60 million, respectively, more than the population of the whole African continent 😅

The population of China is about two times of the population of the whole European continent 😅

The 3 most common languages in the world are Mandarin Chinese, Spanish and English 😐

"The current population of China is 1,418,050,277 as of Tuesday, February 5, 2019, based on the latest United Nations estimates. China population is equivalent to 18.41% of the total world population. China ranks number 1 in the list of countries (and dependencies) by population."

"The current population of India is 1,362,935,995 as of Thursday, February 7, 2019, based on the latest United Nations estimates.; India population is equivalent to 17.74% of the total world population."

Read these as 1.4 billion and 1.4 billion (with rounding)

--I didn't think India's population was so close to China's population, but sorry, I'm not following your point.  Is it about personal truths or something like that?  -That a person can believe what they want and do what they want?

btw, there are some messages directed at you from a forum, if you haven't noticed.

Possibilities are endless ...
Well, you can't be more right!
While what you say is correct, what I wanted to point out is the fact that the population of each of the two Asian countries are more than the population of the whole continent of Africa with 54 countries; i.e. China population = 1.420 billion , India population = 1.368 billion , Africa population = 1.308 billion.

I'm not following your point.  Is it about personal truths or something like that?  -That a person can believe what they want and do what they want?
I can't understand what you're trying to say 🤨 It's nothing personal. Those are just some facts about the world we live in and I believe it doesn't hurt to know a little about it 🤟

btw, there are some messages directed at you from a forum, if you haven't noticed.
I didn't know about it but after reading all the spams I believe it's just one person (ramenchan?!) bitching about the links (or is he that said forum's PR trying to advertise it here?!) 👎 The K is changed a bit to evade DMCA and my reason to share the links is that I believe that the case of a file being downloaded 1000 times and get DMCA is better than the case of a file being downloaded by 100 people and never get DMCA notice. After all sharing makes everyone happy 😇

Thanks for clearing that up.  It was the size of the difference between 100 million and 1.4 billion that made me think you were making some other point.

And thanks for your views on the other stuff.

dmca is harmless as long as you comply with the request.  No fines, no fees.  That's why the industry is working to get rid of it.  They'd prefer to sue.

About 5 years ago they were the other way round...
India had the bigger population....
20/07/2019 19:22 — Anonymous: "Anon"
India's population has never been more than China's at least in the past 50 years. But it will change in 2024 when India overtakes China as the most populous country in the world.

1Fichier has dropped their "cold storage" limit to 2TB.
The majority of our files (for "Direct" links) are rarely accessed, so sit in cold storage. As I put around 20TB of files per account, this means that roughly 90% of files will be deleted once 1Fichier does their purge, which will happen in a few days.

I've had a look at options, but I don't think I can really continue providing Direct links under these conditions. I'm thinking of removing limits around Direct links for the next few days until the files are removed, since the whole system will likely die.
A few of the accounts need renewing, but I'm probably not going to bother doing this any more, just to keep 10% of files alive.

Unfortunate, but not particularly surprising - I don't see any practical way to keep DDL links alive over the long term.
16/02/2019 14:10 — geha714
Really sad, but it was a matter of time I suppose. I hope than a viable alternative can be found but in the end, we have to adapt to this. Thanks anyway for your work AnimeTosho!
16/02/2019 14:38 — Margaan
Sad indeed, since your direct links were forming the kind of valuable public file archive that torrents can never really hope to be. Still, the system was always going to be either dependent on the whims of a third party or impossibly expensive to maintain, so I can only give that tight-lipped, teary-eyed, ultra-manly salute given by sea captains in movies as their vessels sink to the briny depths of the watery blue, and thank you sincerely for your efforts.
16/02/2019 16:13 — Anonymous
Nice!
16/02/2019 17:30 — Anonymous
This won't affect the day to day running of the site I hope?
17/02/2019 01:46 — admin
This only affects the "Direct" links which show up on older files for logged in users. This was aimed to mitigate the fact that most download links here die after a while, by providing a long lasting download option.
17/02/2019 01:57 — Anonymous
I suppose you've considered just sending folder torrents to long-term storage, thus getting the BD series but skipping out on daily noise?
17/02/2019 02:30 — admin
I don't intend to discriminate or be selective about content (or at least, try not to), so that wouldn't really fit in with AT's goals (it may make more sense for someone else to attempt this).
But even if that were to occur, there's still the question of where you get 'long-term storage'.

Thanks for the suggestion nonetheless.

The last big sucker in sight is Usenet.  Could there be any Direct-files type solution that could work with Usenet?

(sorry to be so selfish as to ask)
17/02/2019 04:07 — admin
In theory it may be possible, but Usenet is rather difficult to work with, so would be rather complicated.
17/02/2019 04:26 — Anonymous
May be backup the files in cold storage to usenet, as AT usenet mirror is only recent and direct ddl service predates it quite sometime before.

And gSuit's unlimited gDrive is much cheaper than blackblaze or s3, and a good alternative to 1f prem storage.
18/05/2019 02:31 — Anonymous
gsuit is capped to 750gb/day total bandwidth.

You need to get a discreet little 'donate' button dude, run a money bomb campaign or something, this site is one of the best anime sites, ever.. No joke.

I know most site users wouldn't even notice a fund raiding campaign, but hey, it might be worth a try
16/02/2019 20:08 — Anonymous
If you mean to buy storage for an archive, it's a loser's game to commit to expenses and hope for donations or be stuck with the bills, year after year.
17/02/2019 04:33 — Anonymous
No. why??!
17/02/2019 18:37 — Anonymous
You know there have been many times donate & co has been suggested and the reason to refuse will always be the same. Even if you'd claim to work non profit, getting money changes shift from fan project to business and you'll get unwanted attention. Further to use that money for storage reasons - up till now AT only does link to other sites. Hosting them yourself also gets you unwanted attention.
17/02/2019 21:06 — Anonymous
I agree, and most of all I don't want admin to have more trouble and expenses.

AT's gotten a lot of spam offers lately, so I tend to be suspicious of seeming user suggestions of the same ideas...
17/02/2019 23:55 — Anonymous
"Even if you'd claim to work non profit, getting money changes shift from fan project to business" I agree totally. In fact, it is one of the major shifts in the last 10 years or so. Pre Smartphone (Pre Normie Invasion) the internets were filled with lamazing blogs and sites from what we'd term 'hobbyists' now if you search for anything that interests you, you get links to thousands upon thousands of young 'entrepreneurs' who are looking for clicks.
17/02/2019 23:58 — Anonymous
Agrred. Its such a shame, we definately took the wrong road. The big dude from Mega has mentioned the idea of a p2p based internets, aiming to get back to the old pre normie spirit of things, which was basically 'human-orientated' rather than 'profit oriented'

Almost 2 years ago that same guy (from your link) wrote a post showing 1fichier's lying ways. Somebody else showed the handwriting on the wall in that same thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/commen...t/dlf5bli/

It's a blatant shady lie to change the rules about "unlimited" plans after taking customers' money. Then 1F beats around the bush about the ACTUAL limit they expect UNLIMITED customers to stick to. Nasty, scheming, lying fuckers.
16/02/2019 20:51 — Anonymous
Seen this in many DDL-Services.  It's only unlimited until you're a money loser for them.

Can't exactly blame them.  I don't even understand how some of them stay in business.
16/02/2019 21:38 — Anonymous
Can't blame them for charging ppl and then deleting files + taking away what was paid for? nah. They get all the blame for that.

Funny how if regular people like us do that nobody says 'I don't blame him.' instead we go to jail for fraud. :p

Remember the people who bought unlimited lifetime memberships in MU (Megaupload)?

Suckers!  Let's home the government doesn't try to remember.
17/02/2019 00:50 — Anonymous
what do you mean about lifetime memberships?
17/02/2019 02:26 — admin
A number of these services offer "premium" accounts, which you subscribe to for a periodic fee. Some offer a "lifetime" subscription, which basically means that, for a one-time payment, you stay premium as long as the service stays alive (or they decide to ditch you).
Typically this one-time payment is somewhat high to offset the fact that you're no longer paying monthly/yearly fees.
17/02/2019 15:41 — Anonymous
not the same thing, the site was shut down.
20/07/2019 01:31 — Anonymous
I was a MU lifetime member! It was worth it just to skip download timers. Simpler times back then. I was fresh with a minimum wage job but no bills since I was still living with my parents.
17/02/2019 00:42 — Anonymous
I don't even understand how some of them stay in business.

• promise x (storage)
• charge y (euro/dollars)
• withhold 90% of x (storage)
• keep 100% of y (euro/dollars)
• profit

That's how.
17/02/2019 01:55 — admin
Claiming 'unlimited' is very misleading indeed, though I knew that before I started this. This is why I had never attempted to try keeping links alive over the long term before - it's simply not feasible.

Uploading to 1Fichier only really worked because we were taking advantage of what they offered.
To be quite honest, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it has, and how reliable it has been (you may not have seen it as reliable, but considering what it is, I'd have to say it's worked quite well).
19/02/2019 19:45 — Anonymous
Aw man, sorry to hear that.  Honestly the DDL part of AT is what I use the most.  :/

Thank you for your service, though!

Most of the files would be deleted now, so you're a bit late unfortunately.
Nonetheless, if you have some good ideas, please do post them.

It looks like some of the file link is not properly fetched:
e.g.: https://animetosho.org/view/horriblesu...kv.1312292

only NZB link is available, no other FH provided

P.S: I think it's not only that link, since on first page some of the list doesn't have other FH in preview either, haven't really checked them since the linked one is the one I needed right now
17/02/2019 01:55 — admin
Links seem to be available from what I can tell?
Maybe it was just a little slow for that file?
17/02/2019 03:15 — Anonymous: "Ash"
I think it was really slow at the time since it seems that it's already finished downloading on the server, but the file upload take 3 hours to finish
Sorry for the false-alarm
17/02/2019 04:07 — admin
Ah I see, thanks for clearing that up.

19/02/2019 20:18 — cruorsitis
I didn't even know this was a feature of having an account (as I'm usually using a browser vpn when...looking at all those lovely anime titles. Nothing more!).
I suppose that means this won't affect me directly because I would have had to use the magnet links for older submissions. If I was that way inclined.

Anyway although sad to hear that this excellent feature will be going away (also sad to hear of its existence only now >.<), this remains one of the best sites for anime fans. Cheers and thanks for the hard work maintaining it!
