but when the only links are in the News section on the home page when it drops off, (eg. the regular DB dump page, idk if this has been scraped or not, to name one......)

they become inaccessible and forgotten.
would it be possible to get a simple page (so not to clutter the main site) to act as a Navigation or simply to act as an expanded news archive?
