While VLC is considered the Swiss Army knife of media players, the most robust one is definitely K-Lite Codec Pack Mega. (Its (embedded) player is MPC-HC)
While VLC had a hard time playing (quite pixelated and indeed unwatchable) a 100+ min MKV file (video in VP9 and audio in Opus), KLCP had no problem at all. Quite impressive!

I'd also like to recommend mpv.

mpv is the current recommended playback solution by most fansub groups for a lot of reasons.

Some bad things about mpv... it lacks many settings and right click options.
Potplayer is far better.

Besides KLCP has everything required for playback and installs it in a few clicks! All these components are absolutely CRUCIAL for any sane anime watcher that loves anime releases from CTR and SCY and similar Kametsu staff who relase high quality anime encodes (yeah if I have to go with encodes I get them from CTR) in decent enough quality (at lease 2.0 - 2.5 GB per episode) with dual audio in FLAC.

It installs too much, Potplayer only installs 1 thing.
Get it from videohelp, not from their official site.

Potplayer doesn't play everything too, besides quality can still get better. LAV Filters are in fact the way to go. But i do use: https://anime.my/tutorials/configuring...-decoding/

tl;dr: use mpv player. The stock settings come with it already good enough for casual users

Every time I download from filecloud.io it says 'this file contains a virus' but I can download the same thing from any other link and have it work fine (until it disappears into a Void?). Anyone know if the virus message is an issue on my end or filecloud's??
