Doki had an anniversary a while back. Diaz and some of the other Nyaa-guys left comments. I was hoping it was time to forgive and forget. No, the hate on both sides was worse than ever.
It's should be noted that both pantsu and si have the same dump and si only started getting new content after HS moved there (KunGao being buthurt after kicked off pantsu IRC).
The only one on Nyaa with any real hate for Holo was Nyaa himself. I've even been told it was brought up by at least one Nyaa staffer a couple times about allowing Doki back and it was just Nyaa himself who wouldn't let it happen. Holo also bears no hate towards any of them. As for what caused the issue, pretty much everyone knows about it by now, and it's clear that Doki wasn't responsible. Nyaa tried to force Doki to fire someone who has been gone for years now at this point and Holo refused back then. Which who in their right mind would allow Nyaa to bully them into firing a member of their group for something they didn't believe they did in the first place? Besides several ex Nyaa-staff have been seen in Anidex' IRC channel of late either chatting or idling.
All in all though, when it comes down to it: Nyaa.si is being actively used and supported by various groups. With more to follow suit as time comes. Nyaa.pantsu is just a TT clone with Nyaa's db dump, scrapping Nyaa.si for content. It's still of course your choice which you choose to utilize for your downloading needs.
Unfortunately for you, nyaa.pantsu.cat is a joke that isn't being used by any groups. All new content is simply scraped/taken from other sites. At this point it's basically just another TokyoTosho, except less popular, and it's on a crappy host that seems to be offline more than it's up. And despite the claims that this is related to the ddosing, it's not, because it's been having these issues since it was first announced. For pantsu to be anything more than a TT clone with Nyaa's archive, it's gonna require a better server and to actually get groups to back it and utilize it rather than just scraping RSS feeds from the others and that is not likely to happen given the reputation of those in control of it and the fact they've already displayed incompetence.
Nyaa.si is actually being used by groups and more groups seem to be following suit as I've heard more than a handful will be switching to it and supporting it. So it's pretty much going to be the site to use within the next month unless you visit one like pantsu that is just scraping the contents from it. I personally don't intend to utilize pantsu or si, either one at this point, but of course my opinion and my backing means nothing in the grand scheme of things.
For me, personally I'm good with AniDex at this point. Holo has come a long way with it this past week and the group features it has is wonderful for my groups needs. Being able to have multiple people upload and moderate our groups torrents is a lot nicer than being spread out or forced to use a single login/account. And at least it isn't relying on Nyaa's name and Nyaa's dead archive to build a rep for itself.
Well to be fair, nyaa.pantsu can't even seem to stay online for more than an hour at a time. It seems to always be offline for me as I wind up at a cloudflare cached version of the page telling me to "retry later for a live version". So pantsu isn't even reliable enough to bother trying to use, much less regarding who it is who is actually running it or what they're running it on.
Now that HorribleSubs have backed it, pretty much all the fansub groups will most likely be flocking to it and it'll end up being the most used tracker as a result.
I'd advise against it. It's a bad cache site. AniDex and Minglong are the official places for original fansub groups releases, and has been in the past. HS's encodes are directly mirrored from their site by AT. So there shouldn't be any problem. If you think something is something, you can always upload it to TokyoTosho and it'll be fetched by AT.
