They actually provide a more efficient way to grab parts of the database: https://wiki.anidb.net/w/AniDB_O'Matic
Data is encrypted, but it does give you a local copy.

yup that is pretty much what happend in germany. torrent is punished harshly (and thouroughly) that is why everybody switched to file hosters and streaming.

And I don't really get the motivation behind it either :|
Well, let's see how my current solution holds up.

You are. Just ask on AniDB IRC/forum and you will get your response.

It can be done in a polite way, taking a few months or a year to go through it, and then it wouldn't account for more than an infinitesimal ratio of all traffic. Another option: kindly ask the admin to provide database backups, with incremental updates. It's not like AniDB is a for-profit site (they don't even have ads! kudos for that), so I can't see why that would be an issue (but I'm generally naïve.)

those are other filesharing protocols beside Bittorrent. rare/old stuffs gets posted there before re-postings on public torrents appear.

dang. Haven't use any of those for ages since I learnt of torrent. xD
But nowadays groups tend to make their own website then use torrent, DDL, XDCC or all.

He means for old torrents, most of the groups on Nyaa were already on minglong.

Note that minglong only works for authorized uploads - sticking it to a random torrent won't work. See: recent HS uploads.

demonii and openbt has been dead for years. explodie is on and off. Always use tracker link in the format that the tracker itself prefers and always use UDP instead on http, if supported. Here is a complete list of currently open and safe trackers:

It's a bigass graph so group entries reference episodes which reference titles, or something like that. You can't just get the group entries without the stuff they depend on. But that's just technicalities. AniDB is truly a gem, it needs to be saved for posterity no matter what.

Wasn't angry, just giving some advice.
AT not really the center, there's animethehylia, chautanh and tokyoinsider. AT is just the fastest in fetching and have loads of DDL alternative.

How to use anidb for your anime fix?
There's notification function, turn them on for anime you want to watch or have watched.
You'd be notified if there's a new release.
Open the group entry for the group who did the release.
Open their site to see how and where to download said release.

- Just yesterday, I got a file that no torrent of it has no seeder I contact the group that release the file and got DDL from them.
- A few months ago, some guy contacted me to ask for my release of Chiba Pedal and Chou Hatsumei Boy Kanipan.

DDL and torrent tracker sites simply makes your life easier, but that doesn't mean that's the only way to get your anime.
May I know how you came across AT tho?
I found out about this site from some friends.

Okay, okay, dont get angry....  I thought it was just a sort of "wiki" for anime info? I apologize but I dont understand. How can we use aniDB to fetch anime? Please explain. Isnt AT the nerve centar of anime downloading thru links instead of torrent? If I loose AT, I will never be able to download anime again.

This?

I'm not that panic as long as aniDB still around.
Cos you (even the group themselve) can add new release to the DB, and you can put your contact and site info there.
Perhaps in the future aniDB will be our main source of update. :v

Hmmm... aniDB doesn't violate any copyright law do they? :/

p.s. seriously mate, you should start googling before asking anything over the net already.
> Post proof please. Otherwise you might be the one who did it.
Trust nobody, not even some anon :v

In case I had a few hundred thousand torrent files for Nyaa, and I would want to update them to match the new order of things, what would the new set of preferred trackers be?

I collected a few trackers from the magnet links at different places but I have no idea in which order I should put them and some of them appear in two different forms depending on where I got them from, so I don't know which one to use. More knowledgable people, can you help please?

My collection so far:

http://open.nyaatorrents.info:6544/announce -- should I leave it in, just in case?

udp://tracker.leechers-paradise.org:6969/announce -- animetosho
udp://tracker.leechers-paradise.org:6969 -- pantsu

Considered adding some alternate torrent trackers to the magnet links? Are there good general public trackers that could be used?
Should the nya tracker be included? It seems unlikely that it will come back with that domain.

Making VPN's useless in other words. Go on, feed them more taxes.
The more you do, the more freedom you lose.
After all the word government literally means mind control in latin.

well, the other "save nyaa data" out there did a lot, but all the ones I know of didn't have dates for the content of sukebei.
Maybe they'll do it later on. TT has dates, but I can't automate the grabbing of magnet links.

I noticed that your dump has dates, and it would be perfect for me since I need only the last 1-2 months time wise.
I have no experience with SQL, that's why I asked for a search function, similar to what AT already has for the normal content.
