Hello I'm seeing a lot of error 500 responses when trying to query the feed, for example:
https://feed.animetosho.org/json?eid=2...=1&q=1080p
will sometimes return

Internal error
Failed to connect to search server.

is this expected with the upcoming shutdowns?
12/02/2026 19:31 — Anonymous
From the top of AT main page:
"8th Feb 2026: The storage/feed/API server is quickly approaching its bandwidth quota (which resets in a week). <...> (some requests will fail) to conserve bandwidth until the quota resets."

is this expected with the upcoming shutdowns?
No, it's unrelated. As above commenter points out, the feed is running in degraded mode due to the server running out of bandwidth. Search queries (those with 'q' parameter) are likely affected the most.
It should be back to normal in 2-3 days.

Thanks for raising the issue and sorry for the inconvenience.

As a hypothetical ... what would it take to change this site to community run or automated?

Is it money? Logistics?
14/02/2026 05:30 — admin
The updates process here is pretty much all automated already.
As for 'community run', I'm not sure how that'd work exactly. If it's basically people manually reuploading from torrents with associated metadata, I'm sure someone could set up a forum to accomplish that. It wouldn't be what this site does though.
14/02/2026 13:29 — Anonymous: "oadukj"
I mainly meant as a way to keep the site operational after your departure. But, I'm sure it's a lot more complicated than organizing a community group to keep it running when things break.

The idea is, since it's mostly automated, turn it into an anonymous self-run site with minor intervention when needed. You can depart and stop, and the community would take on the responsibility.

I know it's not likely possible (since setting up a community is extremely difficult) or will happen, but it's just sad when quality parts of the internet die off.

Sites need someone to manage them though - they don't really just "run themselves". You can have different levels of involvement, but it's never really zero.
Even a pure community group on some third-party managed website needs management (unless you don't care for any moderation whatsoever).

I could not find a way to contact the admin directly.
Would someone please point me to the correct contact?
14/02/2026 13:21 *admin
You can post here, or if you really don't want others to see it, go here.
14/02/2026 13:51 — Anonymous: "Someone"
I must have been blind.
Thank you for pointing me to your contact form!
I just sent you a message.

Do you have any advice or a guide for someone who wants to post to public usenet?
16/02/2026 15:15 — Anonymous
I've never used usenet, how advanced is this service?
16/02/2026 15:47 — Anonymous: "Anon"
It's easy to download, but you need a paid subscription and sabnzbd. And an indexer but everything here is on nzbking.
16/02/2026 20:20 — Anonymous
Usenet is 12 years older than the Internet itself so it's not that advanced lol

Just a collection of computers can that talk using a protocol

Some might host anime if you pay them
17/02/2026 01:51 — Anonymous
The way advanced mean is not like that, as the world more modern, they use new hardware such as SSDs and the latest server devices.

There's no way they're still using 12 years old hardware.
17/02/2026 06:22 — Anonymous
You really should research all the advanced hardware that was used to create google
17/02/2026 06:43 — Anonymous: "Anon"
You're out of context,
17/02/2026 03:05 — admin
I don't unfortunately.
You can try searching for guides, like this one to start off (be aware that many of them out there are ancient though). One thing that you may not find in guides yet could be important to you, are privacy implications - providers may attach info pointing back to you on posts you make, so consider that when making public posts.

Thanks.

Thanks for your many years of running this site admin! Going to miss the nzb mirrors for archiving posts!

17/02/2026 06:19 — Anonymous: "nah"
You need to pay for a Usenet service provider. Look at the admin's link a few posts up.
17/02/2026 15:12 — Anonymous: "Trinca"
There are no free providers? all usenet are paid?
17/02/2026 15:23 — Anonymous: "Sort of"
There are probably free ones out there, but they filter out all of the binaries newsgroups.
17/02/2026 16:18 — Anonymous: "Trinca"
Yeah, staying with torrents....
23/02/2026 11:58 — Anonymous: "Trinca"

i just find anime in a way which is not feasible in nyaa at all and I guess it would never be, i am trying something with scripts so i could atleast see size of torrent without opening, and i don't expect any good alternative soon as to make website like this stable it takes years and one more thing is I have developed habit of using this site
18/02/2026 09:00 — admin
I don't control what they do, but I expect that it will stay there.
